Isaiah, the great prophet of Israel, foresees a day of salvation for all people, Jews
and foreigners alike.

Second Reading Romans 11:13-15. 29-32
Paul, defender of the faith of Israel, is now the “apostle of the Gentiles”. He looks
forward to the day of unity.

Gospel Matthew 15:21-28
The faith of a pagan woman opens up the mission of Jesus to the world.

                    PRAYER TO ST MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL
                                      AFTER MASS
                     St Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
                        Be our defence against the wickedness
                                 and snares of the devil.
                  May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou,
                  O prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God,
 thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the
                                   ruin of souls. Amen

NEXT SUNDAY we shall have an appeal on behalf of SURVIVE MIVA. this is a
Liverpool based Catholic charity which helps provide motor cycles for missionaries
and catechists in the third world, especially Africa. SURVIVE MIVA. has has done
some wonderful work over the years. Please give generously next week, if you are
able.

We congratulate CATHERINE WILKINSON who was baptised last Sunday. We also
congratulate the BRYCE, HAMILTON, ALLAN and HARLEY families this weekend
on the baptisms of their new babies JOHN, BEN OWEN and LINUS JOHN
Thanks to all who in any way supported the DUNBAR (OUR LADY OF THE
WAVES) SUMMER FAYRE. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO WERE ON THE PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO ROME
AND SORRENTO WHO PAID THEIR BUS FARE DURING THE WEEK.

WE WELCOME all our visitors to the Church over the next month or so who may be
in the area for holiday or visiting the EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL.

TEA/ COFFEE and BACON ROLLS will be available after Mass next Sunday.

The children return to school this coming Monday and so the CHILDREN’S
LITURGY SHOULD BEGIN AGAIN NEXT SUNDAY AT THE 9AM MASS.
Catechetics will begin again shortly afterwards.

NATIONAL PILGRIMAGE IN HONOUR OF SAINT MARGARET, Carfin Grotto,
Sunday 7th September 2008 at 3pm with Benediction after Mass.

OASIS DROP IN CENTRE for those for whom drug or alcohol use is affecting their
life. St Andrew’s Blackadder Church Hall, Tuesdays, lunch from 12-2pm.

My Secretary in the Chancery Office in Edinburgh has kindly designed a wonderful
NEW PARISH DATABASE which I shall shortly be beginning to use. We shall need
at some point to upgrade all our address and household records. It will be also a
grand opportunity to do some missionary work. There are far more Catholics in North
Berwick and Dunbar than appear on the surface!

     (19th Sunday of the Year) amounted to £. On behalf of the
     parish may I once again thank you most sincerely for your
     generosity for the running of the parish mission and for the support
     of the priest.

     Parish. As always it was a wonderful effort on behal of all. Special
     thanks to Maureen Blair who masterminded the planning and to all
     who manned stalls, led the proceedings, cooked, served, raffled,
     served teas and buns, decorated the Hall, tidied the garden,
     weeded the borders and generally made the Fayre a success. I
     hope to able to announce the total raised at Mass today.
Would those who were on the PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO ROME AND
SORRENTO and haven’t yet paid their bus fare to and from

  1. the Airport please do so ASAP. The return fayre was £15.00.
