You, the borrower, must obtain a PIN from the U.S. Department of Education PIN website
at www.pin.ed.gov . Use the PIN to sign the PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note. The
promissory note is a binding legal document listing the conditions and terms of the loan.
The Federal Direct PLUS Loan is a non-need based, fixed-rate 7.9% loan for both the parent of
the dependent undergraduate student and eligible graduate or professional student to assist with
educational expenses. You may request up to the student’s Cost of Attendance Budget less any
already awarded financial aid. Repayment of the Federal Direct PLUS Loan begins 60 days after the
loan is fully disbursed. The graduate borrower may request deferment while in school.
