The conduct of collections can present counsel – in-house and outside – with a multitude of challenges. Not only does one have to contend with a variety of document sources and media types, but also with issues such as document accessibility, multiple locations, and jurisdictional differences – including privacy laws and blocking statutes. Combine this with time pressures and the inherent challenge of understanding the technologies themselves and the challenges can quickly become too great even for the accomplished counsel and team. Collections can be performed at the client or data site, or remotely over a network. This last approach prevents the disruption and annoyances that generally accompanied onsite collection. The resulting document sets can then be hosted either on Ledjit’s secure servers or on the client’s own servers. Preliminary processing can be conducted on the document set to provide an early case assessment, i.e. a first look at relevance, and to test subsequent processing actions. The Ledjit collection team members are all highly skilled in the use of collection technologies and techniques to ensure that the resulting document set is forensically and legally sound.
