There are many voices rising and speaking things in the nation and in the church. Not only that,
the same voices are speaking into your life and right now there is a serious demand for believers
that have a spirit of discernment. The Lord Jesus warned us and said," I go away from you and
there are some who will come among you like wolves in sheep's skin. Speaking of sheep, the
sheep know their master's voice and can distinguish that voice from a thousand others.
Imagine a pasture where there are many sheep belonging to different people and being led by
different shepherds. If you happen to be a sheep amongst that many and you are not clear as to
which voice is your master's, you are going to end up lost, following the wrong leader and
eventually losing your way.
What has this got to do with prophecy you may ask? It has everything to do with prophecy
because when a prophetic word is uttered it alters a person's, or corporate body's direction and it
is directed at one's destiny... Without a prophetic voice the church is incapacitated, its growth
retarded and the nation is clueless. In Biblical days the king would not go to war without hearing
what God is saying through his prophets. Real prophecy can be authenticated. It exists to speak to
man, to edify, to exhort and to comfort the people of God.
Prophecy speaks to man and is meant to edify him. My experience with prophecy is that it speaks
into one's destiny; it does not regurgitate what went wrong. It is meant for your encouragement to
keep you going on and on, with the hope and faith that Jehovah cares for the details of your life. If
it does not encourage and edify, discard it. Prophecy exhorts, that is it lifts you up. There are times
when I have been on the verge of giving up on something on my last legs and God just uses
someone to reassure me with a specific word to activate my faith. For those in distress prophecy
does the work of comforting. If it's called prophecy and it does not edify, exhort or comfort, dismiss
it, it's not prophecy.
With the many voices competing for your attention, know the master's and follow his leading. True
prophecy that comes from God is about where you are going and He grants its fulfillment.
