Three Amigos
Personal Review: Three Amigos!
Who is "Tom Keogh", and why does he not have a sense of humor? I can't
answer either question, but I can say that the Amazon review he wrote is
baloney and should be removed from this website as it doesn't reflect
reality or majority opinion of the film in any way. His awful review of this
great film prompted me to write my first Amazon review!
I am highly critical of "comedy" movies. Most of the comedies I see have
characters in them that I don't care about, use too much stupid slapstick
humor, or rely on juvenile dirty jokes to get laughs. Three Amigos is the
kind of movie from which you just want to soak up everything even during
the quieter scenes. There is intelligent humor that carries you like a roller
coaster throughout the entire film; sometimes it builds slowly while you
catch your breath from the last laugh, and other times it's a quick, fun drop,
but it always ends hilariously. This is one of those very few films that I can
watch over and over and still laugh out loud until my sides hurt.
I love the Three Amigos characters in the film, the villains are great, the
plot is very interesting, and the music is perfect for this film. You may
actually find yourself wanting to try to learn "My Little Buttercup" after the
movie is over. The acting ability of Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin
Short is highly underrated, as always. This film ranks right up there with
"Planes, Trains and Automobiles" and "Groundhog Day" as one of the best
comedy films ever made. Although it's a little lighter on the drama than
those two, it makes up for it with the laughter you get out of it, and the
story keeps you entertained all the way through.
