European Union
The European Union was started in 1951.
At the start it had 6 members. It is a
economic agreement between 27
European countries. It was created to have
peace after World War II.
Countries
There are 27 countries in the European Union. Including:
The United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain, Slovenia, Slovakia,
Romania, Portugal, Poland, Netherlands, Malta, Luxembourg,
Lithuania, Lativa, Italy, Ireland, Hungary, Greece, Germany,
France, Belgiumance, Finland, Estonia, Denmark, Czech Repuplic, Cyprus, Bulgaria,
, and Austria.
Euro?
1 euro = 1.3467 US dollars
17 of the 27 countries in the
European Union use the Euro. When
a country uses the Euro and belongs
to the European Union they are in
the Eurozone. The countries in the
Eurozone are: Austria, Belgium,
Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France,
Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy,
Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands
Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and
Spain. The euro is used in five more
countries which are Montenegro,
Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, and
Vatican City. Around about 500
million people use the Euro. Even
some in Africa.
Will it Last?
The European Union is in trouble. It might last but some countries that are
not taking care of there money could be kicked out. It will take many more
meetings to figure out if the European Union will last.
Bad
The health of the
European economy is
bad. Greece and
Italy especially.
Some countries in
Europe owe money to
countries around the
world. Italy and
Greece have even
fired there leaders
for owing to much
money.
