himself poor, yet has great riches.

 Do not overwork to be rich; Because

of your own understanding, cease!

Will you set your eyes on that which

is not? For riches certainly make

themselves wings; They fly away like

an eagle toward heaven. Prov 23:4-5

 Paul explains where the danger is

found. 1 Tim 6:9-10

 A desire to be rich . . .

 fall into temptation and a snare.

 “many foolish and harmful lusts.”

 Many have “strayed from the faith in



their greediness, and pierced

themselves through with many

sorrows.” 1 Tim 6:10, NKJV

To Desire Riches is to Desire

Problems

 Consider the rich man.

The Key is Contentment and a

Love for God

 “Now godliness with contentment

is great gain . . .” 1 Tim 6:6-8

 “But you, O man of God, flee these

things and pursue righteousness . .

.” 1 Tim 6:11-12

 “. . . for one's life does not consist

in the abundance of the things he

possesses . . .” Luke 12:15

What are You Doing with Your

Money?

 You are to earn money so that you

can provide for your own family.

Eph 4:28; 1 Tim 5:8

 You are to use your money to help

others. Eph 4:28; 1 John 3:17

Conclusion

 While it is useful and very helpful,

money must never become the

object of our desire.

 Our treasures should always be

laid up in Heaven.

 Our decision to love God more than

money will be seen in the way that

we live our lives.
