Date of Posting: 8/17/2009 Roxbury Community College Notice of Vacancy Part-time Assistant Track & Field Coach 2 openings (2) General Statement of Duties: Under the supervision of the Head Track & Field coach, assist with the recruitment of prospective student-athletes, conducting instructional practice, coach competitive skill development for all competitors and promote the operation of the Roxbury Community College Track & Field program. The assistant coach is expected to follow and comply with all NJCAA rules and regulations of Roxbury Community College and the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center as prescribed in the procedures. Supervision Received: Reports to the Head Track Coach & Athletic Director Supervision Exercised: Responsibilities & Functions (not intended to be an exhaustive list): Assist with the recruitment of players as directed by the head coach and consistent with NJCAA rules and regulations Assist with the implementation of instructional practice opportunities for student-athletes Assist with the organization, administration and implementation of the Track & Field program. Responsible for scouting opposing teams, supervising meets and assists in monitoring academic progress of student-athletes. Assist with pre-season conditioning program for student-athletes; travel team as required. Promotes activities for the program Perform administrative related duties as assigned by the head Track & Field Coach Qualifications: Bachelors Degree preferred Three years experience in coaching and/or competing at a higher education institution or high school level required. Knowledge and understanding of institutional, NJCAA and or NCAA policies and procedures, Roxbury Community College rules and conference rules are required.
Knowledge of recruiting in Massachusetts and ability to judge high school competitors for talent to compete on the Track & Field team of the College are required Ability to instruct Track and Field related skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required Work hours: On weekly schedule, time sheets will be needed for payroll purpose.
