Education Newsletter
Spring 2009
The End of Life Care Strategy was published in July 2008 and it sets out firm plans to improve end of life care for all those
adults with advanced, progressive illness and who receive care in all settings. Its aim is to provide people approaching the
end of life with more choice about where they would like to live and die. The strategy has been developed by an advisory
board of experts and key stakeholders from a range of statutory health, social care, third sector organisations, professional
and academic organisations. The strategy has been informed and shaped by the work on end of life care undertaken by
strategic health authorities for the NHS Next Stage Review. The end of life strategy is available from www.dh.gov.uk
