FADE IN:
EXT. QUIET ROAD EARLY AFTERNOON
A shot of the sky shows it is filled with grey clouds. The
camera pans down to reveal a quiet road. A strong wind blows
and a newspaper scatters across the road and path. As the
camera pans round there is a middle aged woman sitting on a
bench but she is out of focus.
A scruffy looking homeless man shuffles into view. He is
dressed in a long dirty raincoat, blue crumpled shirt and
patched black trousers. His shoes have holes in and the
laces are tattered. His face is wrinkled and his hair lanky
and greasy. He has a long grey beard. A large plastic bag is
hung over his arm. The plastic bag is partially filled with
rubbish.
Part of the newspaper can be seen caught on a tree. The old
homeless man shuffles towards it and then bends down to pick
it up. As he straightens up again he pauses to catch his
breath. It is obvious that he is in pain. He leans on the
tree for support.
The old homeless man then starts to walk forward again with
a slight limp. The camera is looking down on the old man as
he limps along the path. As he goes he picks up rubbish
littered amongst the weeds.
As he is walking along the camera pans back to show another
younger man briskly walking down the road.
The young man’s name is MR.BRYANT. He is dressed in a smart
pin stripped suit and patent black shoes. His hair is also
black and slicked back with gel. Mr.Bryant is eating a
sandwich as he’s walking.
He walks around the old homeless man and carries on down the
road.
FADE IN:

is sitting on the bench but she is out of focus.

CONTINUED: 2.
The old homeless man shuffles into view and again begins to
pick up the rubbish along the street. He does the same as
before and continues to walk along the path picking up the
rubbish.
Mr.Bryant appears behind the man walking briskly and eating
a sandwich. The old homeless man does not see that Mr.Bryant
is behind him and walks into Mr.Bryant’s path to pick up a
piece of litter.
Mr.Bryant nearly walks into the old homeless man but moves
just in time. As Mr.Bryant swerves to miss tripping over the
old homeless man the sandwich he is eating flies up and hits
his bright white shirt. It leaves a nasty stain where the
sauce has dripped out. Mr.Bryant makes an angry gesture,
waving his hands up in the air and glaring at the old
homeless man, he is livid and shouts something about a
meeting. He walks off in an angry rage and then disappears
down the street.
The old homeless man looks shocked but then carries on down
the path. As this is happening the lady on the bench looks
up from reading her book and watches. As Mr.Bryant walks
away she returns to reading her book.
FADE IN:

camera pans down to reveal the road. The lady is sitting on
the bench but she is out of focus.
The old homeless man shuffles into view and continues his
daily routine of picking up rubbish. He slowly bends down to
pick up a piece of litter and pops it into his carrier bag.
As he’s doing this Mr.Bryant appears.
The old homeless man walks forward to pick up another piece
of rubbish as Mr.Bryant walks up towards the old homeless
man.
Mr.Bryant is now close to the old homeless man and stands
behind him as he picks up another piece of rubbish. As the
old homeless man picks up the rubbish and puts it in his
plastic bag Mr.Bryant sneers at him.

CONTINUED: 3.
He then pulls off a piece of his sandwich and drops it in
front of the old homeless man. He looks smug as the old
homeless man picks up the piece of sandwich. Mr.Bryant
expects him to eat it. The old homeless man puts the piece
of sandwich up to his face but then drops it in the plastic
bag.
Mr.Bryant pulls another judgmental face and then walks off
eating the rest of his sandwich and throwing the wrapping on
the floor. The old homeless man sighs and then limps forward
to pick up the sandwich wrapper.
As he is straightening up again he feels a tap on his
shoulder. He turns round to see the middle aged woman that
was sitting on the bench.
The woman’s name is Alula. She is dressed in a flowing green
and blue dress and fluffy coat. Her hair is golden and whips
around her face in the wind. Her cheeks are rosey and she
has a warm smile spread across her face.
Alula holds out a paper bag and a thermos to the old
homeless man. He hesitates but she smiles wider and pushes
the objects towards him. He takes them and she turns to go
back to the bench.
The old homeless man stands for a minute not quite sure what
to do. He then peeps inside the paper bag and see’s a
sandwich. He looks up again to see Alula still smiling at
him. She beckons for him to go and sit next to her on the
bench. He hesitates for a second but then shuffles over to
sit next to her.
He sits for a few seconds looking into the bag and then
looking up at Alula. She nods encouragingly at him so he
takes the sandwich out of the bag and takes a small bite. He
takes nervous glances at Alula out of the corner of his eye
between bites.
Alula smiles at him.
ALULA
’Thank you’
The old homeless man blushes and looks down at the sandwich.
He takes another bite and then looks up at Alula again. This
time he is smiling back at her.
