It allows a minimal computer called a thin
client or a terminal to connect to a
Windows server.
It works with the TCP/IP, and uses the
Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP).

Two modes of operation:
Application Server Mode – allows a client
computer to display a Window desktop and
run applications remotely from a server.
Remote Administration Mode – enables an
administrator to connect to any Windows
Sever 2003 remotely over an IP connection.

It runs on Windows Server OS and
provides the central component that allows
multitasking on a server.

setup the terminal server.

Setup Remote Desktop Web
Connection
It’s a web-based terminal server connection
that allows a client to connect over the web
to the server.
It can be setup from Add or Remove
Programs tool.

Manage Terminal Services
Windows Server 2003 has three tools:
Terminal Services Configuration
It allows you to determine the Terminal Services
connections
Terminal Services Manager
It allows you look at and manage the terminal
servers within your trusted domains.
Terminal Server Licensing
The licenses can be generated by a Terminal
Server License Server but not Terminal Server.

Remote Desktop for Administration
It’s limited to a maximum of two users.
It does not require licensing.
You need to enable Remote Desktop for
Administration on the server.
You need to install a Remote Desktop
Connection on the client.

Use Remote Desktop
You can use remote desktop to
connect to a Windows Server 2003
terminal server or to a Windows XP
“host”.
You can save files to your local disk
or print to a local printer.

Conclusion
Terminal Services allows administrators to
manage their servers without having to be
directly in front of the console.
Terminal Services allows corporations to
