Public Utility District No. 1 of Cowlitz County (better known as Cowlitz PUD) is a publicly owned
municipal corporation of the State of Washington. The purpose of this municipal corporate organization
is for efficient generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy. The PUD is owned by the
residents of Cowlitz County and operates on revenues from the sales of its services. The PUD has
limited statutory authority to levy taxes.

Reporting to the Manager of Communication and State/Local Affairs, the Marketing Coordinator will
manage a wide range of marketing and advertising functions, including market research, development
of marketing materials, and use of social media. Will work cooperatively with key PUD divisions to
ensure that marketing materials, advertising and communications reach out to customers in an effective
manner and reflect the brand of the PUD.

The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or organizational
development, or degree in sales administration or marketing related field and a minimum of two years
experience in advertising, marketing, or public relations.

POSITION:              Marketing Coordinator - Grade III
                       Exempt Salaried Position

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position manages a wide range of marketing and advertising functions, including market research
development of marketing materials and use of social media. Will work cooperatively with key PUD
divisions to ensure that marketing materials, advertising and communications reach out to customers
in an effective manner and reflect the brand of the PUD.

REPORT TO:             Manager of Communication and State/Local Affairs

DUTIES:
Essential Functions:

   •   Assists Manager of Communications and State/Local Affairs in developing, coordinating, producing,
       delivering and implementing various integrated marketing and general communications.
   •   Identifies marketing opportunities and problems, generates, refines, and evaluates marketing actions
       based on data. Develops marketing research tools and instruments for collection of data from key
       customer or stakeholder groups, manages and implements the data collection process, analyzes the
       results and communicates the findings and provides recommendations for appropriate marketing plans.
   •   Develops and maintains newsletters, brochures, and all other materials related to marketing, advertising
       and communications.
   •   Executes a wide variety of campaigns that involve direct mail, email, social media, outbound calls,
       marketing trade shows and events, public relations, customer communications, media advertisements
       and promotions, and marketing plans.
   •   Tracks marketing and advertising campaigns, prepares performance analysis reports of post campaign
       and makes recommendations to Division Directors and program managers for corrective modifications.
   •   Maintains communication open lines with customers and organizations, providing prompt answers to
       requests and conveying concise, clear, and timely information.
   •   Develops standardized presentations, marketing scripts, and proposals.
   •   Writes, designs, and maintains content and provides updates as necessary to PUD website and social
       media accounts.
   •   Assists in writing and delivery of press releases and internal and external newsletters and other
       communications.
   •   Provides product positioning materials as well as training for front office personnel who deal with
       customers on a regular basis.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

    •   Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, Desktop Publishing software, Web Development software,
        and various social networking media required.
    •   Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    •   Excellent Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook skills.
    •   Effective project management skills.
    •   Sound understanding of marketing principles.
    •   Effective understanding of latest technologies and ability to identify how to apply them in marketing.
    •   Excellent copywriting skills and ability to rework technical content for a wider audience.
    •   Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team setting and proven track record of
        meeting or exceeding team goals and objectives.
    •   Ability to build excellent working relationships to attain goals.
    •   Is self-motivated, confident, energetic, innovative and creative.
    •   Effectively communicates and make best use of interpersonal skills.
    •   Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with diverse groups of external and internal
        audiences.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
   • Must be able to work for extended periods in a seated position.
   • Must be capable of bending, stooping and lifting up to 40 pounds.
   • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, reaching overhead, above the shoulder
       and horizontally, bending at the waist, and hearing and speaking to communicate and provide
       information to others.
   • Must have adequate eyesight for source input and CRT output viewing.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Well lit, temperature-controlled office building.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

A Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or organizational development, or degree in sales administration or
marketing related field and a minimum of two years experience in advertising, marketing, or public relations.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
   • Must be neat in appearance.
   • Must be able to pass District physical examination, drug test and general aptitude test.
