Welcome to the Graduate School of Management at Kent State University! This is the first of three newsletters we will be sending you during the coming months. We hope they will answer your questions and concerns regarding registration, housing, orientation and other aspects of the MBA program. Program Length As a general rule of thumb, the number of hours in your program will determine your tentative graduation date. Based on past students, this is the approximate length of the MBA program for the typical full-time graduate student:

Registration
Students who have submitted their new MBA student confirmation survey will receive a suggested schedule. All students should register via internet at:
flashline.kent.edu (student tools tab).
Student Tools registration is available at these times: Through August 14 -Payment is due by August 14, 2009 August 15 - September 21 -Payment is due by September 21, 2009. Students registering after September 21 must make payments online at http:// www.payonline.kent.edu/payonline. The registration calendar and Schedule of Classes can be found at: http://www.registrars.kent.edu/home/
PLEASE NOTE: Full-time MBA students are expected to take their Executive Modules, Core and Integrative Management courses during the day. Evening sections are reserved for the part-time MBAs. Each semester you will be receiving a checklist showing suggested courses to stay on track in the program. If you have any questions at all, please contact our office at (330) 672-2282.
Advising

Louise Ditchey is the primary adviser for all Part-time MBA students, dual degree students, and exchange students. Of course, we will both be available to any students as needed. We hope this will make the advising process easier for all of us!

New Graduate Student Website

MBA Orientation
Orientation for the fulltime MBA class will be Monday, August 24, 2009 at the College of Business Administration building. Please plan to attend for most of the day. Lunch will be provided. A more detailed itinerary will be listed on the website and in upcoming newsletters.
Graduate Assistantships
For those seeking Graduate Assistantships
Students who did not receive a graduate assistantship through the College of Business can apply through other departments and offices on campus. The list can be found by clicking on Graduate Assistantship Directory at:

Students with graduate assistantships within the College of Business will receive their job assignments at Orientation.
Housing
There is graduate housing available on campus at Kent State. To learn more about on-campus housing, contact Residence Services at (330) 672-7000 or visit the webs i t e at www.res.kent .edu. For married students and those with children wishing to live on campus, housing is available at General University Questions Hopefully, our New Student website will be able to answer most of your questions, but if there are questions for which you still can’t find the answer, contact one of our graduate advisors; gsmprogramassistant3@kent.eduor gsmprogramassistant1@kent.edu and either of them will assist you. Computer Skills
MBA students are expected to know how to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. If you are not proficient in these areas, we recommend that you take a preparatory computer workshop before the fall semester begins.
