FAQ's You Need to Know About the Home Affordable Modification Plan In recent years the economy has nearly sucked the life out of most homeowners and the rate of foreclosures is rising at an alarmingly rapid rate. Thankfully, there is now a new spark of hope called the home affordable modification program. In March of this year President Obama put this program into effect in order to allow homeowners to keep their primary home. This initiative works by reducing the monthly mortgage payment a homeowner makes so that the mortgage fits into their budget. It is amazing how much progress the mortgage bailout plan has made and homeowners and lenders alike are jumping for joy over the benefits. It depleted the amount of their debt and took away a lot of the worries that have been weighting them down. Which homeowners are eligible? It is a great time to apply for help in paying off your mortgage. After all, you may be able to dodge any worries of high mortgage payments, foreclosure and you won't have all of those nasty marks on your credit history. The government has set forth several guidelines that can help you in determining if you qualify for this program. Probably the most important issue will be when your mortgage was put into effect. Those that are dated back earlier than the beginning of 2009 are likely to qualify. Another major stipulation to being in this program is that your home has to both your primary residence and owner occupied. If the subject property in non-owner occupied, has someone else residing in the home and paying you rent then you cannot qualify for this modification. Your home also has to be the place that you currently live. The best way to prove this fact during the application process is by simply showing proof of residency that has a recent date, your name, and address. Your monthly income must meet specific guidelines as does your current unpaid mortgage balance. It is important to speak with a professional before applying for help. One of the first things that will be verified during the process will be your expenses, income and assets. It is important that you cooperate fully through the entire vetting process and completely disclose everything of value that you are currently in possession of. This will save you a lot of future hassles and ensure that you are getting help and mortgage payments you can afford. Don't worry about not qualifying in case you are in the midst of a bankruptcy filing. This will not necessarily be a deal breaker for you. The important thing is that you are truthful and that you disclose all of the details during the application process. For anyone who is interested in applying for this program, you are free to do so until December 31, 2012. Then payments will continue for up to five years after this cutoff date. One of the most interesting facets of this initiate is that the government has decided to include an added bonus for anyone who applies at the beginning of this program. It is thought to be helpful for those who were eager enough to apply early. The home affordable modification program is a great way to get a boost on your home mortgage payments. It will not only help you with reduced mortgage payments, but also keep your home from being foreclosed. Written By Scott Pasinski http://www.ConsumerMortgageReports.com 9-10-2009
