Printing a Publication
Finding a Printer
You have a rough idea of the material that will go into your publications, as well as the style and
format you are looking for. Now comes the fun part of finding a publisher. Several of the
publishers commonly used by Dartmouth student publications are:
Whitman Communications
The Valley News - Commercial Printing
R.C. Brayshaw & Co
Sheridan Magazine Services (owner of Dartmouth Printing Company)
Print Place (Online Printer)
Along with these services, there are numerous other printers that can be found in the Upper
Valley area or online.
Securing Funding
Publications can receive funding from a variety of sources. They often recieve outside grants or
cosponsorship. They can have alumni donors, advertisers, etc. If they are a COSO organization,
they can apply for funding from COSO. To do this, they should use COSO's Publication Form and
should ensure that they are abiding by COSO's policies listed below. Please see the "Securing
Funds" section in the "Organizational Finances" Chapter, as Dartmouth College has
particular rules and restrictions on various types of fundraising.
COSO Publication Policies
COSO Organizations should use the Publication form available in the Forms section. If your
organization sends any copies off campus, it must also fill out the addendum.
For any other questions about the publications suite or any specific issues, please contact Liz
Agosto in the Student Activities Office.
