Sorority & Fraternity Life - Officer Agreement

Each officer of the student organization should review and comply with the statements below. To complete registration as a

student organization, three officers must review the statements below and acknowledge that they understand and agree to the

terms described by signing this document. (This agreement may be returned to the Student Involvement & Leadership Center’s

student organizations office, located on the second floor of the Student Union Building.)

Name of Student Organization:

We, the undersigned, agree to comply with all Boise State University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, those outlined in the Boise

State University Student Code of Conduct and University Recognized Student Organizations policy manual. We agree to communicate policies and

procedures outlined in those documents to members of our student organization and agree to ensure that all members comply with them.

We agree to comply with all local, state, and federal laws and ensure the compliance of all members of the student organization.

We acknowledge and support Boise State University’s prohibition of hazing, which is defined in the Student Code of Conduct as “any act that endangers

the mental or physical health or safety of a student, for the purpose of initiation, admission into, affiliation with, or as a condition for continued

membership in, a group or organization. It includes, but is not limited to, any behavior that may endanger an individual’s physical safety or produce

physical, emotional, or psychological discomfort, fright, humiliation, and/or embarrassment, whether it is intentional or unintentional. The express or

implied consent of the victim will not be considered a defense.” We understand that student violators of anti-hazing legislation will be subject to

disciplinary action, which may result in suspension or expulsion from Boise State University.

We understand that as the official representatives of our student organization, we may be held jointly and/or individually responsible for the activities,

messages, and behavior of the organization, and may be held liable for all debts and obligations incurred by the organization. These penalties will be

imposed in addition to any penalties that result from violations of civil law.

We agree to submit a new officer form to the Student Involvement & Leadership Center each time elections are held and understand that all officers of

the student organization must be full-time, fee-paying, matriculated Boise State University students.

We agree that alcohol will not be purchased for consumption or served at any official meeting, event, trip, or program of the student organization unless

approved in advance by the Student Involvement & Leadership Center.

We agree that the financial officer of this organization shall be held accountable for maintaining a balance of our student organization’s account, a listing

of our transactions, and accurate records of our expenditures and income. The officer shall comply with all policies and procedures in a timely manner.

We agree to define our requirements for membership but that membership shall not be denied on the basis of age, race, color, religion, gender/gender

identity, national origin, ancestry, disability, veterans’ status, sexual orientation, or political affiliation.

We acknowledge and support Boise State University’s policies on sexual harassment and misconduct. Sexual harassment and misconduct is described by

in the Student Code of Conduct in the following way: “Boise State University is committed to establishing and maintaining a safe and healthy

environment for all its members. Sexual harassment and misconduct of any kind undermines individual growth, self-respect, and the safety of the

university community. It represents socially irresponsible and damaging behavior and will not be tolerated by the university community. Any person,

regardless of gender, may commit or be a survivor of sexual harassment and /or sexual misconduct. This policy is gender neutral and applies equally to

all sexual orientations and gender identities/expressions.”

We agree to communicate with the student organization’s advisor regularly and to inform him or her of all events and activities of the organization. We

also agree to communicate with the advisor regarding our organization’s needs and expectations as well as what the advisor needs and expects of the

group.

We agree to conduct ourselves in an ethical and professional manner and to ensure that all members of the student organization maintain these same

standards. We understand that we officially represent the student organization to the Student Involvement & Leadership Center, Boise State University,

and the community.
