The problem with choosing The Bahamas as a destination for weddings in the Caribbean is that

there are so many islands to choose from. How can you possibly make up your mind with so many

possibilities? Here are our tips for three of the best to help you make up your mind.

Bimini

The island of Bimini does not always come up in discussions about weddings in the Caribbean,

and this is because it is not very well known. Bimini is the closest of all of the islands to the USA,

being only 53 miles from Miami, and it is therefore quite popular with Americans. However, it does

not attract the same number of people as other more popular islands, and the main reason people

come here is for the excellent big-game fishing on offer - including sailfish and marlin.

Diving is also big in Bimini; in particular, wreck diving. The most famous wreck in the area is the

SS Sapona which you can actually see from above the clear water. The surrounding ocean is alive

with exotic and rare fish, making this a popular choice for divers.

So, for couples who enjoy some aquatic pursuits, perhaps Bimini would be an ideal choice for both

the wedding and the honeymoon!

San Salvador

San Salvador is a beautiful island, known for its important place in Caribbean history. It is said to

be the place where Christopher Columbus landed, and there is a monument on the island to this

historic event. Other things of interest on San Salvador include the hand-operated Dixon Hill

Lighthouse, which was built in 1887 and is still in working order, and Farquharson Plantation,

where much of the island's food was grown in times gone by. It is even thought that the pirate

Blackbeard stayed here at one time - providing a great idea for themed weddings in the

Caribbean, if that's your thing!

Mayaguana

Mayaguana is not an immediate choice that springs to mind for weddings in the Caribbean, being

the most remote of all the islands of The Bahamas. However, this remoteness is exactly why many

people choose to come here.

At 350 miles from Nassau it is the furthest east of all the islands, and the main reasons people

come here is to visit the nature reserves, go snorkelling and bonefishing, enjoy the wide variety of

animals and birds, and simply relax and get away from it all. If that sounds good to you, then it

could be the perfect destination for your wedding or honeymoon.

Visit the Beautiful Bahamas

The Bahamas is definitely a popular destination for weddings in the Caribbean, but make sure you

consider all of your options when it comes to which islands to visit. There are so many to choose

from, it can be difficult knowing which is the best - but one of the three above may just prove to be

your dream wedding destination.
