Here is a list of computer related jobs in the current Canadian Market. Complete a little
research on these jobs and then do the following:

Part A
i) Write up a complete job description of approximately 100 words for any 5
of the jobs below. This MUST be in your own words and NOT copied
and pasted.
ii) Write an advertisement of approximately 100 words describing the
qualities you would consider appropriate for each of the positions.
iii) In a table, like the one below list some of the above qualities and then
importance of each quality to a particular career.

1. After doing some research compare the roles of a programmer and a systems
analyst. Use a table to summarize the similarities and differences between
these two careers.
2. Research the duties of a Systems Analyst. Describe the people skills that you
feel are important for a systems analyst. Explain the reasons for your choice
of skills.
3. Compare the roles of a hardware specialist and a computer engineer. Use a
table to summarize the similarities and differences between these two careers.
4. Make a table that compares the roles of a Network Designer and a Network
Analyst/Administrator.
5. How can employment as a salesperson in a computer store lead to a career in
computers? Explain your answer fully.
6. Briefly describe the range of skills and education that you feel are important
for a Technical Writer in the computer area. Explain fully the reasons for
your choice of education and skills.

a) What does a graphics technician and computer animator do?
b) What job opportunities exist for them?
c) What educational background is needed?
An evaluation rubric will be forthcoming ASAP to give you a better idea as to how this
will be evaluated for an overall grade. Some of the considerations will be: use of class
time, quality of written work, organization of rough draft notes, quality and variety of
research, organization and formatting of final report.
The report is to include a Cover Page, TOC, Bibliography etc… It will not be accepted
for marking if any of these are missing.
