Note from the gym...
The Intermediate basketball season ended with the girls and boys regional tournaments in March. Players on
both teams learned a lot about the game and face a very strong opponents during the round robin tournaments.
The Intermediate students also completed their short badminton season. The tournaments took place at W.O.
Mitchell on April 21st and 23rd. Our school was represented by 4 pairs of boys and 4 pairs of girls. On the boys
side, the team of Jacob Nicholson and Shubhajeet Das finished in 3rd while Alick Wang and Lev Nefedov took
the 4th position out of 32 teams. On the girls side, the strong play of Anne Wu and Olivia Cao brought them to
the final match in which, They easily beat their opponents to come back to Katimavik with a gold medal and the
Regional banner. Congratulations!
The Intermediate soccer tryouts will be starting at the beginning of May.
At the junior level, the teams have practiced very hard for their upcoming basketball tournament which will take
place at Jack Donohue PS on April 28th and 29th. Thanks to Nora Scheffe, Jill Southgate, Jacob Nicholson and
Ahmed Bahdon for helping coach the teams. Good luck!
The In School Track and Field competitions will be happening on Tuesday, May 19th for Grades 6-7-8 and on
Wednesday, May 20th for Grades 4 and 5. Students can prepare for this by taking the time to run a few times a
week at home.
Many students are already registered for the Ottawa Kids’ Marathon that will take place on May 23rd on the site
of the Ottawa Race Weekend event. This is a good way to encourage students to be active. It is not too late to
register. If you are interested, see me in the gym.
Katimavik will have its own 5k & 10k run in June. More details to follow ... but any students interested in
participating should start practicing now.
