Systems Acquisition, Support and Maintenance – Hardware & Software

Was involved in the acquisition, support and maintenance of hardware and software systems within the

company. These tasks were executed on a regular basis with the help of systems executives.

Customer Support Processes

Further to my role as Head of the technical and Products development team, was responsible for putting

together the processes of customer support activities to ensure that all customer queries (technical as well

as non-technical) are answered and / or routed to the complete satisfaction of the customer. All technical

as well as non-technical queries that are non-answerable by the team members were directly handled by

me. To ensure that customers’ queries are given top priority and that response time is kept at the

minimum, introduced various mechanisms such that Frequently Asked Queries are logged to a central

repository and updated into a trouble-shooting section in the product, itself. Additionally, a detailed

report was maintained to keep track of customer queries as well as the status of responses to these queries,

on a daily basis.

Online Project Tracking System

A system was made available on the local intranet to deploy all relevant and useful material related to the

project for all team members involved in the project. Moreover, an exact status of the production life cycle

was also made available to enable reviewers to assess the progress of on-going projects. This system

continues to exist and has been a real benefit to the Project Leaders as well as the team members, in the

company.

The system keeps a track of project deliverables such as content development, content conversion,

animation development, user interface design, application development, etc.

Content Creation Guidelines

Developed a detailed document called “Content Creation Guidelines” for the content team to provide

formatted instructions for the authors on how to developed structured content such that there are no

ambiguities between the content format requirements of the technical team. The guidelines formed a

mandatory requirement of all project specification documents, thereafter.

Replication Processes

Each Product Title was deployed through a CD-ROM for the retail market. A standardized process was

therefore required to ensure that all product titles are replicated with consistent quality and output. The

process was streamlined in a manner that the replication cycle was completed with least amount of time

and that high-level of intelligence was not employed / required, all the time.

Inventory Management Processes

Created procedures and processes to manage the in-house inventory of Product titles. These processes

were strictly followed and are made to follow even by the Executive Director to ensure minimum

pilferage. Each product title is tracked and maintained by the Inventory and Replication team, dedicated

for the purpose.

Technical Evaluation of Payment Options on Connectschool

Researched various online payment options as well as supporting web-security solutions available for the

web and developed a structured document to enable the management to decide on which payment option

should be used as a subscription option on the Connectschool website (Web-site providing educational

material to the Indian Student). The suggested model was then deployed, successfully, using the

recommendations and guidelines outlined in the said document.

Project Development Life Cycle

Developed the Project Development Life Cycle called the Navneet Product Development Framework. The

Framework covered all the aspects of the Project Development Life Cycle such as Product Conception,

Project Planning, Prototype Development, Content Development, Content Conversion, Creative

Development, Application (Software) Development, Product Packaging, Product Branding, Product

Promotion, Product Replication and Project Monitoring.

The process framework was a hybrid framework consisting of the Waterfall, Iterative and Prototype

Models.

5. Details - Commercial & Financial Experience

Business Planning and Business Review

Have been constantly involved in planning the business objectives and targets of the company for a target

audience of company reviewers such as the Board of Directors, Shareholders, etc. The document involved

research, compilation and documentation of aspects such as Business Description, Key Business Drivers,

Potential Market Size, Competition Analysis, Risks Factors Involved, Financial Forecasts, Fund Flows,

Valuations and Capital Structure. The development of the business plan was a periodic exercise due to the

dynamic nature of the IT business. And, therefore, this document was developed three times during my

tenure in the company.

Financial Planning

As a pre-requisite to the business plan, financial plan highlighting Revenue and Income projections were

also developed based on parameters such as company objectives, business drivers, potential market,

product development plan, financial status, fund allocation, human resource available, recruitment plan,

and other parameters. The financial plans, at times, were verified, by a qualified Chartered Accountant, for

accuracy and feasibility. The target audience of the financial plan were Venture Capitalists, Angel

Investors, FIIs, Shareholders, and / or the Board of Directors of the company.

Balance Sheet and MIS

Provided inputs to company secretaries and accountants on key aspects to develop the balance sheets such

as resource expenses, project expenses, product contribution, production costs, direct expenses, indirect
