HISTORIAN
A person who studies and writes about
 the people and events of the past.
 Historians find out how people lived,
 what happened to them and what
 happened around them.

ARTIFACTS
Weapons, tools, and other things
 made by humans in the past.
ARCHAEOLOGIST
People who hunt for evidence of people and
  animals from the past. They find most of
  their evidence buried in the ground where
  settlements and animal herds might have
  been.

FOSSILS
Traces of plants or animals that have been
  preserved in rock. Fossils are always
  things that occur naturally in nature… NOT
  made by humans!
ANTHROPOLOGIST
A person who studies human society.
 They study how the human species
 and different cultures developed and
 related to one another.

DOMESTICATE
To tame animals and plants for human
 use in a household.
PALEOLITHIC ERA
The earliest part of known human
 history. Means “Old Stone” in Greek.
 The Paleolithic era began around 2.5
 million years ago, and ended around
 8000 BC.

NEOLITHIC ERA
The period of time when people began
 settling in one place and farming.
NOMAD
A person who regularly moves from
 place to place, with no permanent
 home.

SPECIALIZATION
The development of different kinds of
 jobs. Focusing on one specific thing,
 rather than doing the same thing as
 everyone else.
TECHNOLOGY
Tools and methods to help people
 perform certain tasks. Technology
