―THIS SABBATH we will be continuing the series on the Beatitudes, ―The Great Omission,‖ a series of messages

by the pastors explaining the Beatitudes which Jesus announced in the Sermon on the Mount. This Sabbath’s

sermon by Pastor Michael is called ―A Hungry Soul Gets Fed.‖ It is a message based on Matthew 5:6, ――Blessed

are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.‖

NEXT SABBATH Our special guest this Sabbath will be One Foundation. One Foundation, a chorale group from

metropolitan Los Angeles, will bless the Thousand Oaks Church with their music ministry. While several of the

choir members, under the direction of Rogert Saunders, are members of the University Adventist Church in Los

Angeles, many hail from various churches throughout the metropolitan area and from Phoenix, Ariz. This chorale

is no stranger to Thousand Oaks Church since they have been blessing us with music since 2001. We’re glad to

welcome them back again to share their music ministry with us.

COMMUNION SABBATH will be April 4.

SUNSET April 3, 2009 will be at 7:18 p.m.

DEAR CHURCH FAMILY, I will be in Ohio with my family. My father has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. My sister

and I are going to spend some time with our parents deciding the best courses of action to take now and in the

future. We have already experienced odd behaviors on the part of my father and therefore want to make his care

and future as secure as is possible. I know many of you have been through this with your families and loved

ones so my heart goes out to you. Those experiences are heart breaking as we see loved ones deteriorate. Only

God through Jesus Christ will restore our loved ones and our broken hearts. Praise be to God. Remember my

family in your prayers. Pastor Larry

WINGS - (Women IN God's Service) - Thank you for remembering the women's ministry with your gifts of support.

Because of you, over 30 TLC baskets have been given out to women within our church family and even into the

community, to those who have been going through some challenging times. Once again, thank you, and may

God continue to bless you, as you are blessing others. ~The WINGS team.

DO YOU GET THE PEW? If you don’t get The Pew by e-mail or our website, there are copies available on the table

outside.

MOORPARK EASTER CONCERT, APRIL 11, 5:00 P.M.Moorpark Community Church Choir and Chamber Orchestra

SHUFFLE IN CROWD-Have you ever been surprised? I mean really surprised? I was on Wednesday of this week. I

went to purchase a copy of a new book titled Liberty and Tyranny at Barnes and Noble. To my shock there were 4

people in line in front of me at the information desk asking for the same book. So I got into my car and drove to

the Borders book store. They had a stack of about 10-12 books prominently displayed at their information

counter. I grabbed 4 copies. As I was waiting in line to pay for them I noticed that the 2 people in front of me also

were buying the book. I spoke to the man directly in front of me about his purchase and he informed me that at

1

the book signing for this book in New York city 6,000 people showed up. If you want to hear this book read it is

available to you the shuffle in crowd on our computer. Just go download it onto your shuffle. I believe it is a book

that will be seminal in describing the journey our country, the United States will take, while we as Adventists look

for the "Lamb" who will become the "beast."

ARE YOU TIRED OF TRYING TO CONTROL EVERYTHING IN YOUR LIFE—YOUR HURTS, HANG-UPS, HABITS? Are you

tired of trying to be God and you at the same time? Why not learn how to let God be in control and find the

wonderful peace and healing He offers. There are two jobs: God’s and mine! We have been trying to do God’s

job, and we can’t! On the flip side, He won’t do our job. We need to do the footwork! We need to admit that we

are not God and that our lives are unmanageable without Him. Then, when we have finally emptied ourselves,

God will have room to come in and begin His healing work. At Celebrate Recovery, we learn how to release our

hurts, hang-ups and habits into the hands of God. In this supportive, confidential group, we are learning how to

find the release and peace God offers. Join us this coming Tuesday night at 7 p.m. (and every Tuesday night) in

the multipurpose room. Or call Yoli or Henry Hernandez for more information (805) 443-9545.

PLEASE NOTE! Beginning the first Sabbath of March the church board has voted to changes in our morning

worship service. First Sabbath school will end at 10:55am. The worship service will begin at 11:10am. This 15

minute break is designed to give families a chance to find their children after Sabbath School and prepare for

the worship service. We hope this short period of time will give everyone a time to regroup and stretch before the

worship service.

BECAUSE OF THE FINANCIAL CRUNCH the board has voted to cancel the weekly flower arrangements. If you

would like to dedicate a weekly arrangement for an important event in the life of your family, please feel free to

call the office and reserve that date. Kristy will make the arrangement for a floral arrangement for that Sabbath.

CHOIR REHEARSAL -Fridays - 7 p.m. the second & fourth weekend will meet in Sanctuary. Sabbath after church

— 2:00 p.m. the first & third weekend will meet in Kindergarten room. Choir members and anyone interested in

singing are welcome.

COME TO ME, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matt 11:28) We are here to pray

with you. Email us at: prayingsisters@yahoo.com or call 310-579-5111

FROM THE SECRETARY’S DESK

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER - by Erma Bombec (written after she found out she was dying from

cancer). In honor of women's history month and in memory of Erma Bombeck who lost her fight with

cancer.

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding

pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.

I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when

someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just

been teased and sprayed.

I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was

guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that

the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, 'Later. Now go get washed up for

dinner.' There would have been more 'I love you's' More 'I'm sorry's.'

But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute. look at it and really see it. live it and

never give it back. STOP SWEATING THE SMALL STUFF!!!

Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what. Instead, let's cherish the

relationships we have with those who do love us.

HEALTH NUT

Eating Habits that can Harm Teeth

Many parents across the country will issue a common refrain at dinnertime tonight: "You'd better eat

that-it's good for you!" There's another old favorite in the parental arsenal of dietary admonitions:

"Don't eat that-it'll rot your teeth!" Now more than ever, we are faced with a bewildering array of food

choices, from fresh produce to sugar-laden processed convenience meals and snack foods. What we

eat and when we eat it may affect not only our general health, but also our oral health.

Daily Diet AND TOOTH DECAY

Although its rates have declined, particularly among some young children, tooth decay remains a

problem for some teens and adults. That's because plaque, a sticky film of bacteria, constantly forms

on our teeth. When we eat foods or drink beverages that contain sugar or starch, the bacteria produce

acids that attack tooth enamel. The stickiness of plaque keeps the harmful acids against the teeth,

which can contribute to tooth decay.

Harmful Eating Habits

Some eating habits can wreak havoc on your body and your teeth. For example, snacking throughout

the day can increase the risk of tooth decay. Sipping soda and frequent nibbling on snack foods

increase the rate of harmful acid attacks on tooth enamel. And repeated binge eating-impulsive

gorging or continuous eating-can do the same.

The eating disorder bulimia nervosa not only harms overall health but also is particularly destructive to

teeth. It involves secret repeated binge eating followed by purging-self-induced vomiting, fasting and

use of laxatives, diuretics or diet pills.

Binge eaters consume a large amount of food very quickly. Although this temporarily may ease hunger,

anger, sadness or other feelings, binge eating can create stomach pain and anxiety about weight gain.

The digestive system contains strong acids that break down food. When vomiting is used to purge food

from the body, these acids attack tooth enamel. Repeated vomiting can erode tooth enamel severely.

Over time, teeth exposed to stomach acids can become worn and translucent. The mouth, throat and

salivary glands may become swollen and tender. Bad breath can result.

Anorexia nervosa is another serious eating disorder that is harmful to overall health and to teeth. It is

characterized by an intense fear of weight gain, the desire to become thinner and an inability to

maintain a minimally normal weight for height and age.

People who experience bulimia or anorexia do not receive adequate minerals, vitamins, proteins and

other nutrients needed for good health. This type of "diet" takes a toll on the entire body, robbing it of

the fuel it needs and causing potential injury to teeth, muscles and major organs.

KEEPING YOUR SMILE HEALTHY

To keep your smile healthy, limit snacks and eat nutritious, well-balanced meals made up of foods

from the five major food groups:

 breads, cereals or other grains;

 fruits;

 vegetables;

 meat, fish, poultry or protein alternates;

 milk, yogurt or cheese.

5

A balanced diet includes a variety of foods that give your body all the nutrients it needs.

Brush thoroughly twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. Choose products that have the ADA Seal of

Acceptance. Clean between teeth with floss or another interdental cleaner once a day to help remove

plaque. And have regular dental checkups and teeth cleanings for a smile that can last a lifetime.
