WHS Student Bulletin September 10, 2009 ____________________________________________________ NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS: Jaguar Prints gets back into print with Windsor Times partnership A group of seven WHS students, under the direction of Windsor Times managing editor, Mathew Hall, are restarting Jaguar Prints. This is a great opportunity for WHS students to learn publishing from a professional and have their words reach a larger audience as an insert in the Windsor Times. Jaguar Prints will publish every 6-weeks. Pick-up a copy the Windsor Times this Thursday and look for a copy of the Jaguar Prints inside! Please remember that WHS is a closed campus. Students caught leaving the campus will serve two consecutive lunch-time detentions -- this is one “club” that you do not want to join. Construction Project Closes Keiser Park Access to WHS for the Rest of the School Year Beginning Monday, August 31st, the Town of Windsor will begin a major construction project that will close WHS access through Keiser Park. There will be fencing blocking north and south entrances to the Park. This will remain in effect for the remainder of the school year. This means that if you normally walked to and from school through Keiser Park, you need to go down to Windsor Road and use the front of the school to enter and exit. VINEYARD ACADEMY TO MAKE 150FT. LONG SANDWICH! Come to the Windsor town Green on Sunday September 13th at 11:00 to witness the creation of the CLUB WINDSOR Club Sandwich. This 150 foot long sandwich is filled with local meats and produce from fabulous Sonoma County. Hand Cured bacon from Zin Restaurant in Healdsburg, organic Heirloom tomatoes from Soda Rock Farm, Willie Bird Turkey Breast, and romaine lettuce on 150 feet of Panorama Bakery Ciobatta bread. 75 Vineyard Academy Students WHS Student Bulletin – Thursday, Sept. 10th, 2009 will assemble on the Windsor Town Green to assemble and serve this amazing attempt at a Guinness World Record. Come buy of slice of history!!!! WINDSOR BLOCO DRUM AND DANCE IS BACK! We will be starting our new season September 28th. Come join us after school. Dance sign ups will be 3:45 in the Dance Studio WHS, Drum sign ups 3:45 at Windsor Middle School. Check us out! STUDENT ACTIVITIES: Attention Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors! Are you interested in judging, hosting or competing in the Mr. Jaguar Male Beauty Pageant? Come to B124 and pick up an application. Applications will be due by Sept. 29th and can be turned-in to B124. Interested in singing the National Anthem at the Homecoming Football game on Oct. 23rd? Auditions will be held for the half-time singing performance on October 6th, at 3:45 p.m. in Ms. Schrader’s classroom (M101)I CLUBS: Students and Staff: Club Awareness Day will be held on Friday, Sept. 11th, during lunch, in the quad area. Clubs that are interested in participating and having an informational booth need to turn-in their paperwork to B124. If a student is interested in starting a club, please come to B124 to fill out the paperwork. California Scholarship Federation (CSF) Attention juniors and seniors: Applications for membership in CSF will be accepted until Friday September 18th. Prospective members please attend a short meeting Friday at lunch in L107 regarding establishing some ‘Scholarship through Service’ projects for our CSF chapter. The W.O.W. Club (Wells of Windsor) meets every other Tuesday at lunch. The next meeting is 9/22/2009 in G101 at lunch. Come help us raise money to build wells and bring clean drinking water to the people of Sudan. The Asian Club is back! Meetings are every Wednesday at lunch, in K103, Mr. Saldana’s room. Feel free to come on in! ANYONE is welcome to join! Come to learn and experience and experience a unique culture. Join the Key Club! Key Club is the oldest community service organization and it looks great on your college applications. Everyone is welcome. Meetings are A-Day Tuesdays, at lunch, in Ms. Ganister’s room, M107. WHS Student Bulletin – Thursday, Sept. 10th, 2009 COLLEGE & CAREERS: Mark your calendars--The College Fair Cometh! Wednesday Sept 16th in the Big Gym from 6-8 pm. 50 schools to schmooze with!! A fun and exciting experience for free. Where do you see yourself after high school? College-bound seniors: the registration deadline for the October ACT college entrance exam is September 18. This October 24 test administration will be here at Windsor High School. Go to www.act.org Students and Staff: St. Mary’s College and Soka University will be visiting WHS. Meet a college representative and get information on entrance requirements. St. Mary’s will be on campus on Tuesday, Sept. 15th, at 8:15 a.m. in the library. Soka University will be on campus Wednesday, Sept. 16th, at 3:00 p.m. in C106. SPORTS: All freshman and sophomore boys interested in playing basketball should come to open gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm in the small gym. The first home football game will be played at Santa Rosa High School (this Saturday)-- all home games will be played at SRHS until our Homecoming Game on October 23rd, which will be played on our new field!
