Dear Students and Parents,

Auditions for cast will be held November 15-21 in the PAC and Black Box. Students wishing to be

considered for the cast must prepare 30 seconds – OR – 16 bars of a song from a musical other than

Legally Blonde the Musical. The auditions will unfold as such: Day 1 = 3:00-5:30 Singing, Day 2=

3:30-6:00 finish singing auditions and learn dance combination, Day 3= 3:00-5:30 dance, begin cold

reads, Day 4 = Cold reads, Day 5 = Callbacks if necessary. Students should plan on auditioning each

day. All students must sit through the entire audition and behave properly to be considered for the cast.

The cast list will be posted in the evening on Tuesday, November 22nd on the Studio VII website

www.studiovii7.com

Monday, November 28th is our first general meeting & rehearsal for cast. The first meeting is

MANDATORY. Regular rehearsals begin Tuesday November 29th. Attached is the rehearsal

schedule. Please go over this schedule and compare it to your personal schedule, if you have any

conflicts they must be written on the audition form to be excused. Multiple conflicts will be

considered when casting, so make this a priority! Unexcused absences will result in your

replacement!

Attached is a contract for this production. Both you and your parent must sign and return the audition

application before being allowed to audition. It is important that everyone involved know the

responsibilities expected for this performance.

Parents play a vital role in the success for each show. It is next to impossible to pull off a production

without the help of parent volunteers. The last page of this packet is a parent volunteer sheet; we can

use all the help we can get. We would appreciate each parent of a child in the cast be willing to

donate at least one hour of volunteer time to ensure the success of the show.

Please return pages 5-7 and a recent photo* NO LATER than NOON

November 14th. NO LATE AUDITION APPLICATIONS WILL BE

ACCEPTED!!!

Break a leg!

Thank you,

Cast & Crew Member Contract

I understand that in accepting a role either in the cast I am making a commitment to the cast and crew to

do the following:

 I will work as a member of a team for the good of the show.

 I understand that I will incur a production fee. Information will be handed out at the first

meeting.

 The following is the explanation of the Tardy Policy:

o If a student comes to a rehearsal late but with a teacher’s note explaining the

situation then the tardy is automatically excused.

o If a student is late to a rehearsal without notice and does not have a note from a

teacher explaining tardiness, they must do either push-ups (10) or running up and

down the top set of stairs in the PAC (5), organize all screws or sweep the entire

stage.

o The student must also write a note explaining why they were tardy, what they will

do to make sure it doesn’t happen again, and apologize for disrupting the rehearsal.

 If the official in charge decides that the tardy is due to a circumstance that

could not have been prevented, the tardy is excused and no action taken.

 If the tardy is found to be unexcused, the company member receives an

unexcused tardy.

 3 Unexcused Tardies = 1 Unexcused Absence

 I understand that rehearsals/tech begin promptly at 3:00/3:30; if I or anyone in the cast show up

late and causes rehearsal to begin late this will result in my having to stay that amount of time

past the end of that rehearsal. (Example: if scheduled rehearsal time is 3:00-5:00 and we don’t

begin until 3:15, rehearsal will end at 5:15. No questions asked and no excuses.)

 I will not leave until the directors have dismissed me. Leaving early without proper

dismissal may result in my replacement in the cast or crew.

 I understand there is to be NO FOOD OR DRINK on stage or back stage at any time!

 It is my responsibility to keep the rehearsal/work areas clean at all times whether it is my trash

or not.

 I will be accountable for my part in this production and make sure my job is done properly.

 I will observe the rules set for the rehearsal/work area and will follow directions when they are

given.

 I will refrain from touching things that are under the jurisdiction of another crew because I

know that doing so can cost money and valuable time.

 I will attend all rehearsals/tech days. Students will only be excused from a rehearsals/tech

days if they have written the conflict on their audition form AND have filled out the

anticipated absence form 24 hours in advance. Unanticipated absences will be dealt with

on a case by case basis.

 Any unexcused absence may result in my replacement.

 Mandatory rehearsals are MANDATORY!!! Absolutely no student will be excused from

these rehearsals unless extenuating circumstances have occurred.

 I understand that all performances are mandatory!!! (Why audition if you didn’t want to

perform in all performances?)

 I will keep my grades up. I understand No Pass No Play applies to this activity.

 I understand that failure to follow any and all of the previously stated rules and

procedures may result in the loss of a Thespian point(s).

 I will follow all rules on the Studio VII Safety Contract at all times while in the theatre.
