If you're planning to launch a website, you need to get your head around SEO for beginners. This
is because the best way for you to make sure your content gets found online is if you optimize
your pages and related materials properly. Optimization can be condensed into three steps.
#1- Research for keywords for each of your web pages.
Keywords are what search engine users use to locate information or products that they want to
find in the internet. Researching for these is vital because you need to find out first and foremost if
there are people searching for the topic that you plan to create a website about.
Once you've verified that there are people using phrases related to your topic, you next need to
identify which specific phrases to identify your web pages with. Any sensible SEO guide will tell
you to pick phrases that have low competition but high monthly search volumes.
After identifying some phrases that would be good to target, start matching them with your pages.
Each page on your site should ideally be optimized for only one or two phrases.
#2- Insert keywords in all the right places on your pages.
Actual optimization starts with inserting the phrases you've picked in step one into some key
places in your website. Obviously, they should be inserted a couple of times in the title and body of
your visible page content. Over and above this however, you should also want to include them in
the title tag, meta tags and meta description of the page you are optimizing.
Training manuals that offer SEO for beginners sometimes forget to mention the importance of key
phrase frequency. It's important not stuff your pages with too many of your identified words and
phrases. Repetitively filling your pages with them will not get you in the good graces of search
engines and will not lead to good results.
#3- Use other related key phrases for content you create outside of your pages.
On page optimization is only the beginning. After optimizing your web pages, you then need to
create additional content that you can associate with your pages and publish in third-party sites.
This related content can come in the form of articles and videos. Distribution sites for these
materials will permit you to create profiles or resource boxes where you can point visitors to your
main site either through a link or a plain text URL.
There are many websites that let you publish your content for free. These include article
directories and video sharing sites. You can also explore other ways of publishing content. You
may for instance, contact well-known webmasters or personalities in your niche and offer to create
a guest post about your common topic. Some blog owners openly welcome guest posting.
SEO for beginners is as simple as steps one, two and three. Start with these and you'll start
getting good results in a few months. If you're a true authority in your niche, you might not even
need to go beyond these steps to get discovered. Once the benefits of optimization kick in, people
interested in what you have to offer will naturally flock to you and even spread the word about you.
