Greek Mythology

By Ann Prybylowski

Zodiac Sign Leo

• My zodiac sign is Leo. The

symbol of Leo is the Lion of

Nemea who Hercules killed. Leo

is described as the most

dominant of the zodiac signs.

Leos are usually the leaders as

they are very self- confident.

Leos know what they want and

will do anything they can to get

it. They also tend to be very

arrogant and have hasty

tempers. The ruling planet for a

Leo is the sun. Color choice for

Leo is gold, their stone is ruby,

and their flower is the marigold.

In mythology Leo is associated

with Apollo.

Goddess of Running (Trackonia)

• Name: Trackonia from Track

• Powers: Super Fast running speed, agile,

rescue people by flying past enemies

• Friends: Hermes (messenger God who had

shoes with wings of them; He is the fastest of

all gods), Iris (the messenger before Hermes

who had wings), Zeus (originated the

Olympics)

• Enemies: Hades (takes people to the

Underworld who must then be rescued),

Dionysus (he only enjoys drinking and being

lazy)

Venus

• The planet Venus is

named after the

Goddess of beauty

and love. The

planet is given the

name Venus

because it is a very

beautiful sight. It is

one of the brightest

objects in the sky

with only the sun

and moon being

brighter than it.

Athena

• Goddess of wisdom, war, the arts,

industry, justice, and skill

• She emerged from Zeus’s head. Zeus

swallowed her mother Mestis

because he feared she would give

birth to a son stronger than him.

Mestis made a robe and helmet for

Athena while in Zeus’s head which

gave him a headache. Hephaestus

split Zeus’s skull open.

• She is fierce in battle but will only

fight to defend the city from enemies.

• She invented the bridle, trumpet,

flute, pot, rake, plow, ship, and chariot

• She was Zeus’s favorite child

• Favorite city = Athens

• Bird= owl

• She is the embodiment of wisdom,

purity, and justice

• Roman Name = Minerva
