The Municipal Council of the Township of Asphodel-Norwood held a Regular Council meeting

on the 19th day of January 2009, at 6:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Council Chambers with the

following in attendance:

Reeve Pearcy called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

 The Applicant enters into an agreement with the Township to ensure that adequate

water and sewer hook ups are installed to service both the severed and retained

lots.

 The Applicant enters into an agreement with the Township to recognize the

accessory use in advance of the primary use. “

A petition was received by Council concerning the perceived health effects that may be created

by the installation of the tower and its proximity to residences. Reeve Pearcy allowed some

comments from members of the community regarding their concerns. Council will deal with

the matter in closed session.

“THAT the Council of the Township of Asphodel-Norwood supports Egg Farmers of Ontario

motion;



WHEREAS the Township of Asphodel-Norwood supports practices that contribute to the

creation of a sustainable environment;

AND WHEREAS Ontario egg farmers currently provide our community with fresh, locally

produced Grade A eggs which travel from farm to table in 4 to 7 days;

AND WHEREAS Ontario egg farmers take pride in caring for their hens while offering

consumers a variety of egg choices;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the current procurement practice of eggs by the

Township of Asphodel-Norwood, produced by Ontario egg farmers, be identified as the

preferred local sustainable procurement practice.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the purchase of all Ontario eggs contributes to the

creation of a sustainable environment in which consumers and farmers benefit.”

CAO/Clerk Valerie Przybilla spoke of the open house which took place on January 15 th. Not a

lot of contentious issues were raised by residents. Ms. Przybilla thanked the media for their

coverage of the event.



The owners of the Godfrey pit are in a position to put forward their application to license the pit

located on the West side of Cameron Line on Otonabee South Monaghan Township.



The local LCBO will be reducing their hours. As a result Council made the following motion;

MPP Jeff Leal and to the LCBO explaining the impacts of the reduced hours on our

community”

Douro Dummer will be holding a public information meeting on Monday February 16th at the

Douro Community Centre to discuss ATV use on municipal roads.



REEVE & COUNCIL



Reeve Pearcy spoke of the work our public works crew was doing during the water main break

last week and complemented them for their long hours to resolve the issue



Councillor Manley mentioned the emergency management meeting on Friday. This meeting

will discuss the scope of the future exercise.



Councillor Millet asked that flowers be sent to a past employee that is ill.

B1 Council Remuneration

2009-01 - Being a by-law establishing the remuneration and expenses for members of Council

and members of any local board.

“THAT the Council of the Township of Asphodel-Norwood agrees to uphold the agreement

with Nexicom with the following additions to be made to the site agreement;

1. In the event that Health Canada determines that the signal coming from the Tower causes

harm to residences Nexicom will cease operation until the issue is resolved.

2. Nexicom will meet or exceed the standards set forth for Safety Code 6: Limits of Exposure

to Radio frequency Fields at Frequencies from 10 kHz - 300 GHz.”
