Notes for Richard Carl FLECK:
"Dick was borned in Philadelphia and grew up on the Main Line west of the city. He went to Haverford School
(where his future father-in-law was teaching) graduating in 1925. Summers were spent on the Jersey Shore. He
also was attended Camp Allagash on Moosehead Lake in northern Maine both as a camper and as a councilor.
His college years were spent at Bowdoin and Harvard from which he earned a BA and a MBA, respectively. After
graduating from Harvard B School he married Frances "Spud" Palmer. Their first house was in Village Green on
the banks of Chester Creek. This house was a wedding present (it was owned by FleckBros., Inc. - probably a
debt payment as a result of the depression/crash.) In the 1930s this was out in the country. For fun they raised egg-
laying hens and some roosters. Initially, he was very involved with closing down FleckBros. which had gone
bankrupt as a result of the crash. Apparently, he was sufficiently successful such that his mother, Bonnie, was able
to live comfortably the rest of her life.
He then took a job with the Delaware Trust Co. in Wilmington. In about 1943 he was looking for a change. He
was offered a great job in Pittsburg. however, Pittsburg in 1943 was the "pitts". Instead he took a job with the Old
Colony Trust Co in Boston. Old Colony eventually became the trust arm of the First National Bank of Boston, a
large international bank.
He settled with his family in Lincoln, Mass. first renting a house on Conant Road that belonged to a cousin (?).
This location was rural with farms as neighbors. About a mile down the road towards the Town of Weston was a
pigery and daily the trucks rolled by delivering their loads of garbage to be consumed by the pigs.
Country living meant that delivery was a standard. Coal, milk, and mail were delivered to the house. If you were
sick the doctor made a house call.
They always had dogs. Two puppies, a pedigreed German Shepard, which traced it's heritage to Rin-tin-tin, and
an Irish Terrier come to mind. As dogs were wont to do in thos days they took chase of a passing garbage truck.
The Terrier ran across in front of the truck. The Shepard unsuccessfully followed and became pig food. Another
dog breed unknown, big and black. This friendly dog had been trained during the war to grab and hold on very
tightly. Well, the detraining apparently had not been all that successful and one day when no one was about he
grab a hold of the milkman. One more tall dog story. The afore-mentioned terrier, Rusty, the first summer that
Dick was at the Conant Road location, was left in the kennels over in Weston while the family was at Moosehead
Lake for three weeks. The very first day the iIrish Terrier escaped and hightailed it for Conant Rd where he spent
the next 3 weeks being fed by the neighbor. The neighbor thought it strange that Dick should leave his dog
unattended for three weeks, but even more upsetting, the kennels billed Dick for all three weeks.
They became active in the First Parish Church of Lincoln which was a Protestant Church of the Unitarian and
2
Congregational persuasion. Sumner Smith, an older member of the congregation and respected elder of the town,
owned a large old New England farmhouse at the corner of Sandy Pond Rd and Baker Bridge Road. In about
1946 or 1947 he sold this house for $19,000 to Dick and Spud and this became their home until Dick retired from
the bankin about 1970, at which time he sold this house for $99,000."

v. Frances Rhoades FLECK, born 03 Apr 1948 in Boston, MA; married Richard YEAGER Abt. 1971 in
Lincoln, MA.
Notes for Frances Rhoades FLECK:
"Francie grew up in Lincoln, MA on Sandy Pond Road, just around the corner from Sandy (Flint's)
Pond. She went to the Lincoln Public School through grade 8 and then to Concord Academy. Spent
summers at Moosehead Lake or travelling (camping) through the west with her Mother and siblings.
At Colorado College she met Richard Yeager whom she married after graduation. He worked for the
U.S. Forest Service(?) and his first assignement was in Cleveland, Texas. They did not much like this
part of the country. Later they moved to Bimidji in Minnesota, the land of Paul Bunyon, which was like
4
going from hell to heaven, apparently. After her divorce she moved to Colorado Springs, where she had a
teaching job, then on to Ohio for another teaching job.
After some years teaching she changed course and went back to school to study landscape design at
___________________ in Massachusetts. Unfortuneately, the job market was weak and so she went
back to teaching at a school in Montgomery County, Maryland. She next moved north to New England.
She worked in Concord, NH, for several years before moving to Wilton, NH."-----Bill Fleck 9/1/2006

He and Nell bought an old farm house several miles north of Hanover in Lyme, NH., which they named
"Hickory Farm" . It was located on a pronounced ridge with a fantabulous view overlooking a substantial
sweep of the left bank of the Connecticut River. Acer saccherum, better known as sugar maple, was

delicious syrup. They of course had a variety of animals on their farm and during her childhood years on

He was recently married to Anna a elegant, beautiful and talented southern belle, with whom he had been
in love for some time. They lived in a grand house and he was very wealthy. It would seem he had all
that he wanted.
He lived on one side of Merion Sta. and and his brothers, Bill and Fred lived on the other side. Every
morning the three of them would meet at the station to commute to their office at 4th and Arch Streets in
the middle of the Philadelphia business district of that era. It was necessary for Henry to cross the tracks
to get to the platform and he did so by passing through a gate that would be opened by an attendent and
closed for approaching trains. There was a fence that kept people from crossing the tracks.
On the fatefull morning of 1907 he walked out around the fence and onto the tracks.

Madame Laraison, 2 Rue Alfred Riom, Pornic.
que 5 or 6.

Family Record Sheet no: MD1001 -Edward Teague, Maryland
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Excerpt from the TEAGUE Family Magazine originally published in the 1970s
"The earliest known record we have located on Edward Teague is contained in theHall of Records in Annapolis,
Md. in the "Index to Early Settlers" (1630-1680). Volume 2. This reads as follows:
June 8, 1675 "‘Eodem Die (this day) Thomas Jones proved his right to two hundred and fifty acres of land for
transporting himself, Edward Teage, John Edmonds,Sr., Rebecca Edmonds, John Edmonds, Jr. into this Province
to inhabit".
The question, where did Edward Teague come from? Was he transported direct from England, or was he brought
into Maryland from the Eastern Shore of Virginia where some earlier Teagues had settled? The record doesn’t say
but in checking on Thomas Jones, the person who transported him into Maryland we find he, (Thomas Jones),
was a mariner from Bristol, England, a trader and sheriff of Somerset County, Md. In 1672 he was given
exclusive rights to trade with the Indians in St. Mary’s County, Md.
We believe Edward was 15 when transported into Maryland; that his year of birth was in the neighborhood of
1660. As to the names of his parents, the Association hasn’t let up on the research. We have several good leads,
but nothing definite that we can prove by the records.
The second record on Edward Tegg (as was spelled in these documents) relates to a Warrant Patent of 300 acres
of land in Cecil County, Md., as laid out in two tracts by Thomas Coursey, Deputy Surveyor, - one for 130 acres
dated August 25, 1695, and the other for 160 acres dated August 26, 1695. These were recorded in the Land
Office in Annapolis, Md. Ten."

Notes for John Wigard LEVERING:
from Ariciu-her sources are the two family Levering histories:
JOHN WIGARD: born in 1648 or '49, in the town of Gemen, in Germany. In April, 1674, he married "the chaste
virgin," Magdalena Bokers, of Essen. She was a native of Leyden, in Holland. They lived in Gemen until some
time after the birth and decease of their first child, and then removed to Mulheim, where they remained until they
emigrated to America, after the 20th of March, 1685, bringing their surviving four children. He settled first in
Germantown, Philadelphia, and removed from there a short distance west, into Roxborough Township, in 1691,
where he bought a tract of five hundred acres of land, lying between and bordering upon both the River Schuylkill
and Wissahickon Creek. Upon this estate he lived his remaining years with his family, and died there.
His wife Magdalena died in the summer of 1717 at the age of about 67 years. He died February 2, 1745, at the
probable age of 97 years, and was buried upon his farm in a spot overlooking the romantic Wissahickon, which
has become a part of the famous Fairmount Park of Philadelphia. This spot subsequently became the churchyard
and burial ground of the Baptist Church, organized in 1789, which was greatly enlarged, and is now known as
Leverington Cemetery, under a special charter from the State of Pennsylvania. This ground doubtless contains the
remains of Magdalena. A gravestone marking the interment, in June, 1744, of their grandchild, Clement Levering,
still stands, and points the place where repose the old pioneers, though no sculptured tablet was ever erected there
to their memory.
The earliest record of John Wigard Levering and his wife, Magdalena Boeckers, appears in the records of the
Presbytery of the Evangelical Parish of Gemen, Munster Stadt, Westphalia, Germany. On March 22, 1674, the
first wedding banns for "John Wigard Levering, Rosier's son, with the chaste virgin Magdalena Bokers, of
Essen," were proclaimed.
William Penn acquired his estates in what eventually became Pennsylvania by patent in 1681. He began travelling
throughout Holland and Germany, recruiting settlers. At the same time, he took partners, thereby acquiring the
services of agents to bring in even more settlers. One of the earliest partnerships, organized about 1683, was the
Frankfort Company; a partner in the Frankfort company was Jacob Van De Walle, the uncle of Wigard and
Gerhard Levering.
The most active partner in the Frankfort Company was Francis Daniel Pastorius, a learned man who came from a
family of some wealth and position in Germany. In August 1683, he arrived in Philadelphia aboard the America
with thirteen families; thirty-three people in all, and founded Germantown.
Wigard and Gerhard Levering emigrated in 1685. Their agreement with the Frankfort Company is at the
Pennsylvania Historical Society:
Wigard came to Philadelphia on the ship Penn's Woodland from Holland in 1685 having arrived before the month
of August, 1685. The Frankfort Company was engaged in the transportation of persons desiring to remove to their
colony. The written contract entered into by Wigard Levering with the local agents at Wesel, Dr. Thomas Van
Wylick and Johannes Le Brun, for transportation of himself and family to Philadelphia, dated 20th of March,
1685
We, the subscribers, do acknowledge and confess by these Presents, that we have contracted and agreed together,
that Doctor Thomas Van Wylick and Johannes Le Brun, in behalf of the Pennsylvania Company, in which they,
and other friends of Frankfort and other parts, are engaged, to accept or receive me, Wigard Levering, old 36 or
37 years, and Magdalena Boeckers, old 36 years, and four children, Anna Catherine, William, Amelia, and
Sibella, respectively 1/2, 2 1/2, 5 and 9 years, to and for the service of the aforementioned Company, to transport
by shipping out of Holland or Ingland, to Pennsylvania, upon their cost. On Their arrival in Pennsylvania, they
were to report themselves to Francis Daniel Pastorius, who was general agent for the company. Written upon the
margin of the instrument an agreement to include "the Contractor's brother, Gerhard Levering."
Documentary evidence of the brothers is contained in a recorded deed, executed in August, 1685. "On the tenth of
that month and year, Francis Daniel Pastorius, as the attorney of Jacob Van de Walle and others, forming the
Frankford Company, conveyed to Wigard Levering a lot in Germantown containing fifty acres of land. The deed
is in the German language, and closes as follows: `So done in Germantown, on the 10th day of the 6th month
(August), in the year of Christ 1685, in the sixteenth year of the reign of King James the Second of England, and
in the fifth year of the reign of William Penn.'"(*) Wigard and Gerhard Levering -they, with several others, had
been naturalized "on the 7th of the 3d month, [May] 1691, by Thomas Lloyd, being Deputy Governor." The
record shows: "They having solemnly promised faith and allegiance to William and Mary, and fidelity and lawful
obedience to William Penn, as Proprietary, it is declared and granted to them to be henceforth, Freemen in Law,"
etc. Both Wigard Levering and Gerhard, were now entitled to be freeholders, as well as free men, and in this they
exercised their rights, as Wigard acquired five hundred acres of land by purchase, and Gerhard bought one
hundred acres, adjoining. These tracts reached from the Wissahickon Creek to the Schuylkill River, and embraced
a considerable portion of Roxborough. The inventory of Wigard's estate, as made by Matthew Houlgate and Isaac
Cook, on the 9th day of February, 1744-45, lists household effects sufficient for one room only--except "one bible
valued o1.10 and one singing book--shows that he had retired from active life and was "only waiting till the
34
shadows a little longer grew"; the while, clinging to His Word as the beacon which would guide him safely "over
the river."
In August, 1685, the Frankfort Company conveyed 50 acres of land in Germantown to Wigard Levering. Levering
removed to Roxborough in 1691 or 1692. Wigard Levering's Roxborough residence was on the southwestern side

Notes for Rosier LEVERING:
The Levering family is probably descended from an ancient Teutonic family, which entered England with
William the Conqueror. The family settled in Leverington, a large village, divided into the townships of
Leverington St. Leonards and Leverington Parson Drove, located in the north end of Cambridgeshire, deep in the
fens. Leverington is ninety-nine miles north of London. The patriarch of the English family was John De
Levering, born about 1250 in Leverington; John's son was Robert, born about 1280 in Leverington. In 1316
Robert De Leveryng became a lessee of the Wisbech Barton Manor. This is what some Genealogist think, that
this family is English. (Ariciu)
Rosier Levering is BELIEVED that he was born in Holland, of ancient English or Anglo-Saxon parentage; exiled,
because of persecution for their religious principles.(Levering Family History..)
