 Mental health unit underway
Relocating Yewdale Ward, the
inpatient mental health unit at
West Cumberland Hospital,
is the essential final step in
clearing all the areas of the
hospital site needed for the new
hospital build.

It was agreed with the Cumbria
Partnership Trust last year that
services from Yewdale Ward
would be re-provided on site
within J Block, which previously
housed the Ullswater stroke unit,
together with a range of other
services. Physiotherapists Helen Duncanson and Elaine Ashford in their new home – Blake Fell

the services were decanted from
the Ullswater unit on 17 June,
to different parts of the hospi-

services going to the upper staff
