1/ Agricultural Prices are published at the end of each month throughout the year for the United States and selected states. Maryland is not in the monthly prices program; however, price information is available for Maryland commodities at the end of each production year. Throughout the year on Friday, the Maryland Field Office of USDA’S National Agricultural Statistics Service in cooperation with the Maryland Department of Agriculture publishes the Maryland Grain and Livestock report. This report contains current commodity price quotes from local and regional markets throughout Maryland and can be viewed at http://www.nass.usda.gov/md/rlsetoc.htm#Grain

STAND UP AND BE COUNTED

Our office is currently conducting our year-end crop and livestock production surveys which are designed to measure final 2007 crop production and livestock statistics for Maryland. Only with your direct input, through response to our agricultural surveys, can we accurately describe how this year’s drought affected agriculture in our State. Results from these comprehensive survey efforts will be released in January 2008. If you are contacted, please know that your confidential data will be used solely to produce end-of-year crop and livestock statistics for Maryland. Look for the 2007 Census of Agriculture questionnaire in your mailbox in early January 2008. Your response provides vital information that impacts decisions about community development, farm policy and other key issues. This is your chance to share your voice to help ensure a better future for your farm, your family and your community. Thank you for your continued support of our efforts to accurately portray Maryland agriculture.
