PRESS RELEASE
January 2010
Grundfos donate product to Youngcare
Grundfos Pumps Brisbane Office was recently contacted by one of its Authorised Grundfos Dealers -
Stoddart Manufacturing, based in Sunnybank Hills – with an opportunity to come on board in making a
donation to a very good cause.
Youngcare is an organisation with a vision to provide relevant and dignified lifestyles for young
Australians with high care needs. Right now, there are over 6500 young Australians living in aged care -
simply because there are very limited alternatives.
Youngcare hopes to address the gap in the Australian health care sector, by building apartments
around Australia that provide 24/7 care for young people with disabilities, enabling them to live in an
environment with other young people, where they can thrive and have fun.
Stoddart Manufacturing has kindly donated a rainwater tank to Youngcare, who are building an office
at Springhill. When approached by Stoddart Manufacturing, Grundfos was only too happy to donate a
Grundfos Hilift submersible pressure pump with a Pump Genie interconnect device to enable
Youngcare to pump the water from the tank to where it is needed.
Lawrence Stiles, Grundfos Area Sales Manager said, “It’s great to be able to support an organisation
that is doing such amazing work for young people with disabilities.”
For more information about Youngcare, please visit their website at www.youngcare.com.au

PRESS RELEASE
30th March 2010
Grundfos congratulates Think Water's Local Hero Promotion Winner
Grundfos Pumps Pty Ltd would like to congratulate the winner of the $20,000 Community Water
Project as part of Think Water's Local Hero promotion.
Steen Jensen, managing director of Grundfos Pumps, presented the prize to the Barmera Playspace
Group at the Sedunary Park site on Tuesday 30th March.
As a leader in the pump industry, and as a preferred supplier to the Think Water Group, Grundfos
Pumps was proud to come on board as the Gold Sponsor of Think Water’s Local Hero Promotion. The
promotion gave individuals and community groups the chance to win a $20,000 water project for their
local community or community group.
After the careful consideration by a panel of 5 independent judges, the $20,000 water project prize was
won by the Barmera Playspace Group.
The Barmera Playspace Group is a collection of volunteers – formed predominantly of local parents –
who have been working closely with the community, Berri Barmera Council and local businesses
towards the ultimate aim of building an all abilities playground in Barmera, South Australia.
The Playspace Project has been a long standing vision for the Barmera Playspace Group, and a great
deal of commitment and drive has gone into making it a reality. Within nine months of forming, the
Group secured a total of $474,000 in funding from the State Government and the Berri Barmera Council
to construct the Sedunary Playspace – a fantastic achievement.
Irrigation of the new and existing grass, trees and shrubs on the Sedunary Park Playspace site will
require significant investment, and the $20,000 water project grant will be used towards this, with
another $20,000 secured in alternative funding.
Dara Clayton, representing the Barmera Playspace Group said, “The irrigation has been designed to
conserve water and utilise water efficiently through inline drippers to planted areas. The Playspace will
be planted with native species, most local to the area, to ensure resistance to the weather conditions
and minimal water requirements.”
Mr Jensen said, “It’s great to see one of South Australia’s Murray River towns benefit from this
promotion. W e hope that this project will help inject some extra fun into the Riverland region for
communities and visitors alike.”

PRESS RELEASE
Tuesday 22 June 2010
Grundfos congratulates the Frankston City Council for it's Water Conservation Initiatives
Frankston City, located approximately 40 kilometres south of Melbourne, has been announced as the
winner of the Water Conservation Category of the Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Sustainable Cities
Awards, which were held in Docklands, Melbourne on Friday night.
The Frankston City Council, local community groups and schools have all been active in a number of
sustainability initiatives, and were this year recognised as finalists in nine of the Awards twelve categories.
In addition to being announced as the winner of the Water Conservation Category, they also took out the
Waste Management Category.
Frankston City Council won the Water Conservation Award with their entry ‘Recycled Water Flows to
Frankston City’.
In early 2000, Frankston City Council recognised the need to reduce their potable water use by extending
the existing recycled water pipeline from the South Eastern Outfall. This project involved the collaboration
of Frankston City Council and South East Water to create the Ballam Recycled Water Scheme.
The scheme provides recycled Class C water (treated effluent) to Ballam Park, Jubilee Park and Lloyd
Park, providing greater water security to 12 sporting ovals within regional and district level reserves. The
use of recycled water allows for sports activities to continue in spite of the drought conditions.
The extended pipeline is currently expected to save 47 megalitres of potable water each year, with
additional savings anticipated when the system can deliver Class A recycled water in 2012 due to the
upgrade of the Eastern Treatment Plant.
The total cost of the Ballam Recycled Water Scheme is almost $4.5 million, with contributions from
Frankston City Council, South East Water, State and Federal Government.
Grundfos Australia’s Victorian State Manager, Evan Roiniotis, presented the Water Conservation Award.
He said, “Parks, sports grounds and reserves are an integral part of a community, and it’s great to see that
the winning entry is initiating proactive water conservation practices to ensure that these areas remain
useable during times of drought.”
The Water Conservation Category, sponsored at a State and National level by Grundfos Pumps, has been
a category within the Keep Australia Beautiful Sustainable Cities Program for the past 3 years, and has
been well received by new and past participants.
The overall winner of the Victorian Sustainable Cities Awards, Melton Shire Council, will now
represent Victoria at the Australian Sustainable Cities Awards 2010.
The Australian Awards will be held at Canada Bay, New South Wales, as they were last years overall
national winner.
