Digital Signage is the New CRM Tool for Retail Banks
Digital signage is an innovative and relatively new way of promoting and
restoring faith in today’s banking sector. After a period of economic crisis
and downturn in confidence, banks need to reinstate their image, away from the
portrayal of greed and corruption and of instigating the crisis which has been
inflicted on them (and us!). Financial institutions should restore confidence to
their customers by introducing CRM, thus replacing the human element and
relationships of exchange between the banker and his customer. CRM (Customer
Relationship Management) software and databases equip a business to identify and
reward its loyal customers and further develop its targeted marketing and
relationship with them.
Making use of digital menu boards and such technological developments in terms
of advertising, at the point of sale, are constantly changing. We see a growing
interest for a new form of display – LCD digital signage that already exists and
is particularly prevalent in the United States.
After the crisis, banks faced a new ecosystem.
The world has suffered from the economic slump that hit in recent years, whether
it was companies or individuals. The monitory system was immediately cited as a
major culprit of this financial crisis, a leading source of corporate bankruptcy
and a detrimental effect for households. After the crisis, banks faced a new
ecosystem.
But how will this new technology be able to assist the banking industry today to
advance the bank tomorrow and revolutionize the retail banking sector?
This can be done in a number of ways;
• POS (point of sale) locations, where product marketing is directed
specifically at a captive audience. (foot traffic)
• Placing innovative and attractive audio and visual graphic boards in places
according to the demographics, like entrances to shopping malls, fast-food hall
and in queue lines at banks.
• There is also the possibility of making these screens into a touch screen,
enabling the customer to self select from a choice.
Today, even as the ‘storm’ has passed, the image of banks has greatly shaken the
general public and in particular among small investors, who for the first time
in years no longer trust their banker. In response, the communication, marketing
and advertising services are working on new dimensional strategies, where space
to display digital menu boards for promoting products and services will work
best.
