Excitement Builds as 70th Gala Nears

With just weeks to go to Little Flower’s 70th Anniversary Rose Gala and Benefit, com-

mittee members are busy with final preparations. This will be a very special evening. Girl

friends will be gathering for a great night out in downtown Philly. Couples will celebrate

Valentine’s Day. All will have a blast as the party flows through the beautiful Crystal Tea

Room. Games of Chance and prizes will add excitement to the evening. The top shelf spec-

tacular affair will be the pinnacle event of the year-long 70th Celebration. Proceeds from the

Rose Gala and Benefit will go towards the special 70th Anniversary Scholarship Fund.

Roses Received

“Last February I began praying to St. Therese to ask for a job change.

Four days after I started praying, a colleague presented me with a yellow rose. In

June, I interviewed for a new position and received a phone call stating that I got

the job. “Little Flower, in this hour, show thy power.”

“I have a friend who is Jewish and she asks me questions about the

Catholic Church all the time. I tell her she is a “closet Catholic.” She gave me a gold

Star of David and I gave her a gold cross. I had the star mounted on my cross and I never take it off.

She always asks me to pray for different things. When her father got sick, she asked me to pray for him. I told her I

would pray to St. Therese. St. Therese is my patron saint and I pray the “Novena Rose Prayer” every day. After a time,

her father died. She called me that morning to tell me about his death. She was crying so hard and told me she woke up

at 3:00 a.m. and her bedroom smelled of roses. Her aunt called that morning to tell her that her father died at 3:00 a.m.

She came to see me a few days later and was telling me about the whole bedroom smelling of roses. I told her that

it was St. Therese. I got out my Novena Rose prayer to show her and told her about St. Therese. When I opened it, a

strong smell of roses filled my kitchen. I put my nose to it, and she cried out, “Do you smell the roses?” I can’t explain

how I felt at that moment, but I will never forget it. St. Therese came to us. I still pray to her every day and I try to imi-

tate her “Little Way” each day.

your requested dedication. The bronze plaque, which measures approximately 4” x 21⁄2”, can have up to 5 lines engraved

on it. (The more lines, the smaller the print).

or Helen Higginbottom, along with the dedication request that you would like printed on the plaque. If you have a specific

locker number and it is available, we will be sure to give you that locker.

If you have any questions, or need more information, please contact Helen Higginbottom at 215-455-6900 ext. 119.
