Wes Anderson’s “droll” films. They’re also down with diversity and up on all
the best microbrews, breakfast spots, foreign cinema, and authentic sushi.
They’re organic, ironic, and do not own TVs.
You know who they are: They’re white people. And they’re here, and
you’re gonna have to deal. Fortunately, here’s a book that investigates,
explains, and offers advice f or finding social success with the Caucasian
persuasion. So kick back on your IKEA couch and lose yourself in the
ultimate guide to the unbearable whiteness of being.
Personal Review: Stuff White People Like: A Definitive Guide to
the Unique Taste of Millions by Christian Lander
Yeah, so this entire book skewers me and my friends and acquaintances,
and for that reason I couldn't stop reading and snickering. I don't live the
idealized life he assumes of all white people, but still, I've bought my share
of $100 yoga pants and $5 lattes, and I do enjoy a good Farmer's Market!
This book's written in blog format, so it was fun to dip into for a moment
here or there, and read parts aloud to my friends while on vacation (in San
Francisco, yeah - he got me again!). I wouldn't try reading it front to back
as the joke would get old, but read over a week in half hour increments, I
found it hilarious all the way through.
