SPECIAL EVENTS

Welcome to

SALEM

Massachusetts

As Mayor of the City of Salem, I would like to

welcome you to our historic seaport.

Since 1626, when Roger Conant arrived with the first settlers, the City

of Salem has been attracting people from all points on the compass.

Salem is a colorful, coastal city with much to offer visitors: a rich

maritime history, wonderful museums, an impressive display of his-

toric architecture, a terrific array of restaurants and specialty shops,

and amazing stories that span almost four centuries.

Experience America’s #1 Halloween celebration and then come back

for a visit during our Holiday and Spring festivities.

No matter your interests…from frights to sights Salem has it all!

We are looking forward to seeing you in Salem.

Planning Your

HALLOWEEN

trip to Salem!

No place in the world celebrates Halloween with such fun and

magic as Salem, Massachusetts! As the fall landscape unfolds its

colorful palette, the fun and excitement of Halloween fills the streets

of Salem. We offer the following suggestions to our October visitors

to make your trip more fun and enjoyable.

CREATE SAFE COSTUMES FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY.

Salem is one of America’s largest outdoor Halloween parties. With

so many people on the streets, you need to be able to walk safely. Be

cautious of long trailing items and accessories. Please do not bring

weapons, real or fake, as they will be confiscated.

TAKE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. Street closings are in effect on

Opening Night and Halloween. Parking in the city of Salem is very

limited and you should expect to pay for parking. To make your trip

more fun, take the train, bus, or Salem Ferry. Trolley and pedicab ser-

vices are available from the ferry and train depot to the downtown.

Visit HauntedHappenings.org and Salem.org for travel information.

CALL AHEAD TO CONFIRM EVENTS. Some events are planned

in advance and may be canceled or changed. Need a place to stay

during your visit? Vist both of Destination Salem’s official websites

HauntedHappenings.org and Salem.org for listings. If you do not

find a place to stay in town, check NorthofBoston.org.

COME, HAVE FUN AND EXPLORE IT ALL! This is a delightful time

of year in Salem. If you don’t get to see it all, come back and stay

for a spell!
