VUGM
How do we capture and communicate useful ideas from VUGM?
Attendees from various units will share information. Any resulting
procedural changes will be summarized in writing. Faculty and
staff to be encouraged to present at upcoming VUGM sessions
Collections Development issues
Bloss will gather statistics and draft a proposal to present to the
Steering Committee to move notification slip books with LC copy
to shelf-ready workflow.
Bloss has consulted Malinowsky on acquiring paperback books
instead of hardbound. He will investigate the possibility of getting
paperbacks from Yankee on slip orders. Low-use books (e.g.
foreign language, computer science titles) could be good
candidates for acquisitions in paperback. If UIC libraries hold
paper as well as electronic versions of the same serial, we may
consider shrink-wrapping and warehousing paper issues.
Daugherty will investigate the possibility of electronically
notifying academic departments and faculty about newly processed
material sorted by subject area.
Voyager Programming Tasks (Lisa List)
Closed order list: O'Leary looking into compressing data from this
lengthy file.
