Minutes:
The minutes of the July 30, 2002 meeting were approved
Collections Merger for Documents/Maps and Reference
Departments:
John Shuler shared the Memorandum of Understanding developed
by John and H. Robert Malinowsky for the merger of the reference
collections of the two departments. Agreement has been reached
on the location of the Js and Ks on the second floor index tables,
and for the processing and shelving for the titles on the multi-
volume list. Volumes presently shelved on the index tables must be
relocated, and holdings and item records must be changed. In some
cases, item records must be created. The move of materials should
be accomplished by the fall semester, but the processing and
record changes will probably not be completed by that time. It was
agreed that Bloss would set up a meeting for the next day, with
Bangalore, Bloss, Daugherty and Shuler. The purpose of the
meeting will be to detail responsibilities, priorities, a time frame,
and the sequence for the various activities required to complete
the merger of reference materials.
Voyager:
Daugherty reported that Lambrecht had ordered manuals for all
units. The online manual is difficult to access.
Acquisitions has had no major problems and the small bugs have
been reported.
Cataloging is working on a few problems, including those related
to the Chicago Board of Trade materials.
Circulation is working on Universal Borrowing. The Universal
Catalog should be ready by mid-August. Other problems have been
encountered with printing "Has" list and deleting unlinked item
records.
There was a short discussion of promotion to patrons of the new
features of the system such as SDI and SAVE searches and citation
format.
