Sweet 16 Magazine Scholarship Contest

Requirements: Girls between the ages of 13 and 18 must write an original, unpublished, first person story about a life-changing experience or
significant event to be eligible for this contest. The story must be the true experience of the writer and less than 1,600 words.
Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Contest
Contact: http://www.vfw.org/ Amount: $1,000 – $30,000 Deadline: November 1
Requirements: Students in grades nine through 12 are eligible for this award by writing and recording a three- to five-minute essay. Themes and
topics for the essay vary depending upon the students’ locations and are listed online. Applicants must also complete an entry form to be
considered. In addition to the money awarded, first place winners from each department will win an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C.
American Harlequin Dance Scholarship

Requirements: Dance students age 15 to 21 who are citizens of the U.S and Canada are eligible for this scholarship. Interested students must fill
out the application in its entirety and dance instructors must complete the certification form. Both documents can be found on our Web site.
Winners of the award are selected at random through a drawing after the applications are considered.
The Ron Brown Scholarship
Contact: http://www.ronbrown.org/p-elig.htm Amount: $10,000 each year for four years Deadline: November 1
Requirements: The Ron Brown Scholarship is available to African American high school seniors who have contributed to society in a significant
way and show the need for financial aid. Students must also demonstrate success in academics, leadership and community service. Applicants
must be citizens of the United States or have a permanent resident visa. Application materials can be downloaded from our Web site.
Mesothelioma Memorial Scholarship
Contact: www.straightforwardmedia.com/scholarships/index.php Amount: $500 Deadline: November 15
Requirements: Students must be a high school senior or older, and planning to attend a postsecondary education program. Prospective students
must complete an application and two essays. Applicants must answer the essay questions, “How will the Mesothelioma Memorial Scholarship
help you achieve your educational goals?” and “What have you learned about Mesothelioma from the information provided on the Mesothelioma
Scholarship site?” There are no required word limits.
