In order to be able to complete rebanding to any SouthernLINC wireless phone, you must have 4

                                           For i325 Phones

All newer model phones will already have the correct bandmap in the phone to operate after
                                        Rebanding.

Carrier RSS is licensed software from Motorola. It can be acquired from your SouthernLINC Wireless
service manager (Direct Employees) or through purchasing a license directly from Motorola (Dealers).

The three other pieces of software come on one CD from the SouthernLINC Wireless product
development group. Please contact Keith Youngblood (rkyoungb@southernco.com) if you need a
copy sent to you or download the software at the following URL:

In preparation for rebanding, Southern LINC must update the control channel list in all subscriber
products currently in use. This update is required for all handsets starting from the original L3000
(Lingo) to the newest phones in production.

Handsets which have not been updated once rebanding begins will experience
significantly reduced coverage and much longer “Red Light” or “No Service”
       conditions.

The update process differs for each series of subscriber products. The following pages detail the
process required to successfully update the control channel list in each series of subscriber product.

Follow the directions explicitly and make sure you are using the latest version of RSS to perform the
update. Currently, that version is R01.16.11 or higher.

Using any version of RSS prior to version R01.16.11 may not correctly update the subscriber
unit.

Once the update has been completed, you must enter the phone information into the SouthernLINC
Wireless tracking web page. This can be done by navigating to the following URL:
https://ezlinc.southernlinc.com/rebandData.asp

on the IMEI label on the back of the unit.

The following pages detail the procedures used to successfully update a phone for rebanding. First,

Description
An issue has been discovered where certain iDEN phones may reset when the satellite based “A-

2. Select the Software Upgrade WITH Default Java Apps option (see below). The Utility will determine
the proper software version necessary for the handset attached to your PC via the USB data cable
and will proceed with the upgrade (see Upgrading screen below). The Default Java Apps are Java
applications that were already loaded in your phone by Motorola before you purchased the phone.

                                                      Click on this
                                                      button.

3. If your phone is Java-capable (i88s, i58sr, i710, i730, i325, or i830), the last step in the process is
to re-load the default Java applications. To do this, follow the instructions below; these instructions
will display on your computer screen once the software has been upgraded.

4. After the upgrade is completed, a message will appear indicating the phone was upgraded
successfully. Select OK (see screen below). Once you have completed this download, you can
disconnect the phone from the data cable and the phone will automatically reset itself. Please turn
your phone off and back on to complete the upgrade. If you previously purchased and downloaded
additional Java applications, you will be required to re-load these applications to your phone. You
can do this in one of two ways (see below):

       1) You can re-download via the Download Apps Java Application located in the Java menu on
your phone. Once the upgrade is complete, please be sure to turn your phone off and then
back on before using Download Apps.

       2) Or you can re-install the Java applications through the iDEN Update Software Application at
       http://idenphones.motorola.com/iden/support/software/pcsftw_applications.jsp and click the
       Launch button on iDEN Downloads.

Important: If you are using the AGPS upgrade utility to update a non-Southern LINC phone (i.e.
Boost, Nextel, etc) which is being used on the Southern LINC network, you must perform a further
series of steps after completing the AGPS upgrade. These steps are detailed on the following page.

 Craig Sheltra Version 1.01 Page 28 1/8/2012
Instructions for updating a non-Southern LINC Falcon phone

After completing the AGPS upgrade utility, perform the following steps to ensure the phone will
operate on the Southern LINC network. Failure to complete these steps will cause the
customer to experience reduced coverage, increased red-light conditions, and increased
service restricted and service not available messages.

      1. Read the phone with RSS
      2. Expand the User Ergonomics field
      3. Under Tiering Flags, check the Roaming Icon Control box
      4. Under Tiering Flags, check the MO-SMS Enable box
      5. Under Tiering Flags, un-check the Display Direct Connect box.
      6. Under Interleave, change the Interconnect Voice Channel Interleave to 3:1 (Half Rate) Preferred. This is very
important. Failure to perform this step will result in the user getting unnecessary System busy messages.
      7. Under Radio Resources, un-check the Limited Service Enable box. Again, this is very important. Failure to
perform this step will result in the user getting service restricted messages.
      8. Lastly, make sure to write the Southern LINC CSD to the converted phone. To do this, simply chose Write
CSD from the Tools menu. Under the Southern LINC directory, chose the csd020604.s19 (or higher) file and
click open. If you are converting an older model, i1000 and before, chose the csd020223.s19 (or higher) file
         instead.

data cable if it is still connected.
