News
Dragons' Den
tees valley dance charm the dragons! Welcome work
The company competed against Beamish Museum, Northern placements
Gallery of Contemporary Art and Leisureworks at The Sponsor's
Club for Arts & Businesses Dragon's Den event. All organisations Co-author scheme
pitched for £5000 to support their project. Heather Walker pitched
the Dance Marathon concept to the Dragon's and scooped the Youth Dance Festival
£5000 prize! The Dragons' were business people from the North
East.
(It was a shame that the rest of the company were stuck on the A1
with a broken down car so missed the whole thing!!!)
Welcome to our work placements
We would like to welcome Tahara Mattis and Peter Hardicre who
have joined the company on a work placement. Both are recent
graduates of Northern School of Contemporary Dance. They will be
writing a blog about their work placement experience which will be
available to read in the news section of our website

Co-authors get busy
Hundred and twenty-five co-authors from five schools are currently
very busy assisting the making of our new work Karli, Mustafa &
the Crocodile Club. The piece which will also feature an original
score by Pietro Lusvardi and his band Gatto Marte and will be

premiered and performed at ARC from 12 - 16 October 2010.
boo-iky-boo
And we are on the road again with boo-iky-boo... We continue to
tour to various locations in the region with boo-iky-boo this term
with a new cast taking over the reins.
Tees Valley School & Youth Dance Festival
tees valley dance will be hosting the first Tees Valley School and
Youth Dance Festival in partnership with ARC on 9th July. It will be
a great opportunity to showcase the diversity and breadth of school
and youth dance in the Tees Valley. So if you run a dance group
and would like to participate please let us know.
Kirkleathham Hall School Project
On invitation of Redcar & Cleveland Arts Development and
Kirkleatham Hall School in Redcar we are devising and delivering
dance activities for pupils with profound and multiple learning
disabilities and their teachers.
Classroom Moves/ Digital
There was a wave of excitement this week as the first digital
version of Classroom Moves was revealed to company members
by Kim vom Kothen from FreshFish Digital Media and Adam
Gatenby from Ideonic. The programme will undergo a period of
testing and tweaking before its launch in September 2010.
