Mrs. Beatrice Beasley Buckner, 80, resident of 1812 Kirkwood Dr., died Saturday afternoon in
her home following declining health. She was born in Johnston County, the daughter of the late
Arthur R. and Vessie Honeycutt Bealsey.

She had been a resident of Durham for most of her life and lived at 3309 N. Duke St. for many
years. She was a retired employee of 34 years with the American Tobacco Co. She was a
member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness

Surviving are her husband, Waverly Lester Buckner; and several nephews and nieces. Funeral
services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Clements Funeral Chapel by Elder Wallace
Mann. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends
Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 at Clements Funeral Home.

David of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brothers, Robert Glenn Honeycutt of Godwin and Willie Earl

eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Carl Edwin Lucas, 72, of Erwin died Monday in Good Hope Hospital. He operated Carl's
Supermarket for 42 years and Carl's Supermarket in Dunn for 28 years. Mr. Lucas operated
Carl's Sundries and Carl's Restaurant. He was a member of Civil Defense Air Patrol of Harnett
County and the Sheriff's Association of Harnett County. Mr. Lucas was a fire marshal for
Harnett County. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Neill S. Stewart Lodge No. 556
and the Sudan Shrine Association. Mr. Lucas was a deacon in First Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church by the Revs. Jerry
Hicks, Thurman B. Stone and Jerome Pope. Burial will be in Erwin Memorial Park.

Mr. Lucas is survived by his wife, Letty H. Lucas of the home; a daughter, Ruth Morgan of
Erwin; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Price Funeral Home, and other times at the
home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Erwin.

Rev. Dalton P. Honeycutt, 82, of 2055 Lassiter Rd. Four Oaks, died Friday at Johnston Memorial
Hospital. Rev. Honeycutt was born in Johnston County on May 14, 1915 to the late Frank and
Della Honeycutt. He was a retired farmer and pastor serving numerous churches including
Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church and First Advent Christian Church of Four Oaks.
Funeral has been scheduled for Sunday 3:00 p.m in the chapel of Minshew Funeral Home. Burial
will follow in the Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens.

Surviving: wife, Eloise Johnson Honeycutt; sons, Dalton P. Honeycutt, Jr. and Freddy Honeycutt
both of Four Oaks; daughters, Margaret H. Boyd of Garner and Patricia H. Tart of Clayton;

Mr. Honeycutt was born June 27, 1948 in Johnston County to the late Rev. Dalton Pershing and

Amy Elizabeth Honeycutt of Four Oaks; son, Dalton P. Honeycutt, III and wife Cindy of
Smithfield; brother, Freddie Honeycutt of Four Oaks; and sisters, Patricia Tart of Clayton and
Margaret Boyd of Garner.

Dolores Ann McGee McLamb, 72, of 1891 N.C. 55 West, Coats, died Monday at her home. Mrs.
McLamb, a native of Johnston County, was born Sept. 22, 1931, to the late John Aldridge and
Lola Honeycutt McGee. She was a 1951 graduate of Campbell College and was an
administrative assistant in the Planning Department with the City of Raleigh. She was a member
of Coats Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Coats Baptist Church by the Revs. Jesse
Mooney and Chris Wroten. Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier.

Survivors include her husband, James Leon McLamb; daughters, Jacqui M. Stewart and husband
William, and Trisha M. Tripp and husband Derek, all of Coats; a sister, Jean M. Stephenson of
Angier; grandchildren, Brad Stewart, Brooke Stewart, Matthew Tripp and Joshua Tripp; and
mother-in-law, Agatha McLamb of Coats.

Johnson. She was predeceased by her spouse, Rev. Dalton P. Honeycutt on January 9, 1998.

Survivors, daughters, Margaret H. Boyd of Garner, Patricia H. Tart of Clayton; sons, Freddy
Honeycutt and Dalton P. Honeycutt, both of Four Oaks; brother, Felton Johnson of Hillsborough;
10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.

1999.

Johnston Volunteer Fire Department. A US Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of
American Legion Banner Post @#109 in Benson and a member of the Disabled American

Highsmith Langdon. She was a member of Johnson Memorial Church and was a homemaker.

Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth H. Stewart.

Woody Stewart of Swansboro; two sisters, Oma Turlington of Jacksonville and Dorothy Deet of
Mechanicville, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Bert Jones and Bart Jones, both of Jacksonville, Jo Ann

Stewart, both of Swansboro; and six great-grandchildren.

Letty H. Lucas of Erwin died early Thursday morning, May 11, 2006, at her home. She was a
member and director of the N.C. Hairdressers & Cosmetologists. She was district deputy,
Worthy Matron and grand marshal of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Erwin First Baptist
Church. Mrs. Lucas served as president and secretary of her Sunday school class and secretary of
the WMU. Mrs. Lucas was a former member of Erwin Chapter Eastern Star 230 and a member
of Dunn Eastern Star Chapter 59.

She was the daughter of the late Simon P. and Mary Ida Benson Honeycutt and was preceded in
death by her husband, Carl Edwin Lucas in 1995. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday
at Erwin First Baptist Church by the Revs. Keith Goretzka, Jerry Hicks and Jimmy Wood. Burial
will follow at Erwin Memorial Park.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Morgan and husband Larry of Dunn; grandsons, Ed Morgan
and wife Wendy of Dunn, Roger Morgan and wife Becky of Lenoir; and a great-grandchild,

Mary Elvia Jones Smith

                                 Mrs. Mary Elvia Jones Smith, formerly of the Oakdale
                                Community in West Raleigh, died Saturday, February 10, 2007
                                at Cary Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cary, NC at age
                                106. Visitation will be at Ephesus Baptist Church, 6767
                                Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, NC on Wednesday, February 14th
                                at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
                                Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Smith's
                                body will lie in state at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary
                                from 8:00-5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

                              She was born in Pleasant Grove Township, Johnston County,
                              NC, on May 17, 1900 the daughter and second child of Charlie
                              Johnson and Mary Eliza Honeycutt Jones. She attended public
                              schools in Johnston and Wake counties before moving to
                              Smithfield with her parents in 1914. Mrs. Smith was baptized
                              into the First Baptist Church in Smithfield in 1917. In 1920, she
                              and her parents moved to Raleigh and she took a sales position
with W.T. Grant Co. She remained with Grant until 1924 when she became a telephone operator
with Southern Bell.
In 1924, she transferred her church membership to Johnson Memorial Church in Raleigh and
then later in 1932 to Ephesus Baptist Church. She was an active member and church deacon at
Ephesus for a number of years.

On October 31, 1925, she married James Smith from Bladen County. James had moved to
Raleigh following his discharge from the Army in World War I. Together they built a home in
the newly developing Oakdale Community just west of Raleigh. After James' death in 1949, she
maintained the household for nearly 50 years. During her widowhood, she developed a practice
of attending to new born infants. In her retirement, she was joined in the household by her sister
Ruby and her husband Alton "Goat" Pearce. After Ruby's death in 1998, she broke up
housekeeping and moved to Cary Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Surviving are her three children, William Carter and his wife Sandra of Greenville, NC, Betty
Lou and her husband Louis Thigpen of Austin, TX, and James Charles and his wife Brenda of
Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren, Byron Smith of Delray Beach, FL, Mark Smith of Orlando, FL,
Teressa Coll of Austin, TX, Suzanna McClanahan of Austin, TX, and Brent Smith of
Creedmoor, NC; seven great-grandchildren, Stephanie Urban of Lebanon, PA, Van Coll, Lance
Coll, Kyle McClanahan, and Emily McClanahan all of Austin, TX, Sydnie Smith and Jenna
Smith both of Creedmoor, NC.

Honeycutt, and the widow of Russell Hargis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday from the chapel of Underwood Funeral

Ruby Jones Pearce, 90, of Raleigh died Friday, August 28, 1998 at Rex Hospital. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Alton P. "Goat" Pearce; a sister, Minnie J. Winstead and a
brother, C. Purvis Jones.

She is survived by her sister, Elvia J. Smith and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 30, 1998 at the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary
from 7-8:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Montlawn Memorial
Park.

JOHNSTON COUNTY -- Rudolph Wood Jones, 65, of 10957 N.C. 50 North died Wednesday in
his home. He was the owner and operator of Rudolph Jones Seed and Fertilizer and a member of
Providence Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in providence
Presbyterian Church by the Revs. Raymond Tear, Jack Dail and J.D. Nesselrodt. Burial will be in
the church cemetery.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Pauline H. Jones; a son, Richard Jones of Benson; a daughter,
Joy A. Jones of San Diego; three brothers, Roy Jones of Garner, Jaylon Jones of Benson and
Billy Jones of Raleigh; two sisters, Lucy Smith of Raleigh and June Olive of Smithfield; and two
grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.

Ms. Honeycutt was born in Wake County to Doris Coats Brown of Benson and the late Charles
King. She was also preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Hosea Coats, and
paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. I. H. King. She was a nursing home assistant.

William Kermit Honeycutt, 74, of 5791 Zack’s Mill Road, Angier, died Monday at Wake
Medical Center in Raleigh. Mr. Honeycutt was a native of Johnston County, born Oct. 6, 1930,
to Reba McGee Honeycutt and the late Vaden Honeycutt. He was a mechanic and a member of
Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Wayne
Honeycutt. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home
Chapel in Benson by the Revs. Timmy Blair and Robert West. Burial will follow at McGee
Family Cemetery.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Janice J. Honeycutt; a son, Gary Honeycutt
of Dunn; a stepson, Joseph Lynn Norris of Lillington; a grandson, Gregory Wayne Honeycutt of
Dunn; brothers, Mack Honeycutt and Billy Honeycutt of Angier; sisters, Barbara Benson and
Faye Johnson of Angier; and great-granddaughters, Kelsey and Kaylee Honeycutt.
