Racer Instructions for Frozen Watters Adventure Run on January 31, 2009



 Racer should have following handouts at start

o Racer instructions - 8 ½ X 11

o USGS map - 8 ½ X 11

o Passport – 4 ¼ X 5 ½



 Finishing the race

o Start at Stone Shelter (I.e. triangle) to checkpoints (CP) 1 through 7. CPs

can be retrieved in any order but all 7 CPs are mandatory to finish the

race.

o CPs 20 – 25 are intermediate checkpoints

o Any individual arriving after 3 hour cutoff will loose 1 CP per 5 minutes

late.



 O-course Details – CPs can be retrieved in any order

CP1 – Sledding Hill, west side on CP7 – West side of bloomer park

two track single track, at the turn

CP2 – Bridge remnant, off of single CP20 – Ranger station

track CP21 – End of pipeline

CP3 – Spur, above single track CP22 – End of canal, historic

CP4 – Off of single track, river side “Mason’s Folly” landmark

CP5 – Skeleton of a small Indian CP23 – South side of rail to trails,

teepee small hill top

CP6 – Trail junction, off single track CP24 -- Tower

on south side CP25 -- Reentrant

o All park and city roads are also off limits.

o Only Avon Rd. can be used to to access CP 22



 Important Rules

o Uncontrolled course: yield on roads to traffic, share foot trails with park

users

o Leave no trace: what you bring in on the course must come out with you

on the course.

o Required gear: Cell phone with a waterproof case; two Ziploc bags is

acceptable, Compass, Map case or Ziploc bag is acceptable, and Sharpie

marker

o Illegal gear (weapons, GPS or GPS linked devices)
