Transfer Requirements Guide for Nursing – Triton College
The College of Nursing upper division undergraduate program leads to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The curriculum reflects the need for a strong science-based program; development of decision-making skills; and, community-based clinical experiences.
Transfer Admission Guidelines
The College of Nursing admits qualified transfer students from accredited institutions. Applicants are required to have a minimum 2.75 (A=4.0) cumulative transfer GPA and a 2.50 GPA in the five natural science prerequisite courses. Admission is competitive. To be considered for the College of Nursing, applicants must complete all of the following prerequisite coursework prior to Fall term enrollment with grades of C or better in all courses. Natural Sciences must have been completed within seven years prior to enrollment. Minimum of three of the five natural science prerequisites (Anatomy & Physiology I and II, Microbiology, General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry) must be completed by the final application deadline of January th 15 . The College of Nursing offers information sessions on select dates throughout the year. Transfer applicants are strongly encouraged to apply online at www.uic.edu/depts/oar/undergrad/apply_undergrad.html. It is highly recommended that applicants fill out the UIC online or paper undergraduate application a minimum of a month prior to the College of Nursing admission’s deadline. College of Nursing supplemental application materials are required and will be available after the processing of the online or paper undergraduate application. Information regarding the submission of the Nursing supplemental application materials is available on the College of Nursing website at www.uic.edu/nursing/prospectivestudents/bsn-apply.shtml. Applicants who have a 3.25 cumulative GPA, a 2.8 natural science GPA, and who have completed at least three of the required natural science courses (Anatomy & Physiology I and II, Microbiology, General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry) can apply by the early application date of October 15th and may receive an early admission decision by December 31st . Students who have an active RN license may apply for the RN-BSN Program through the Global Campus. This guide is based on UIC’s 2007-09 catalog and is valid for students who enroll through Fall 2010.

UIC general education requirements changed beginning in Fall 2007. Transfer students who enroll at UIC through Spring 2009 will be allowed to follow either the GE pattern used prior to Fall 2007 or the new GE pattern adopted for Fall 2007. Transfer students who enroll at UIC in Fall 2009 or later will be required to follow the GE pattern adopted for Fall 2007. Use the following tables to estimate how UIC might accept any general education courses you may have already completed. Acceptable courses and credit hours may vary by institution. UIC recommends that students contact a pre-admission counselor in Undergraduate Admissions at (312) 996-4350 before choosing any courses. Only lower-division, introductory courses will be accepted for general education. If a course is listed in more than one category, that course may only fulfill the requirement in one category.
