Publishing Your Web Site

• There are many sites that offer FREE web

hosting

• Free sites will have

– A sub-domain name

– For some sites, you will not be able to access

the site from school

– Will have banner and pop-up ads

A simple search on Google yields over 5 million hits:

Some sites claim to be free, but you have to pay for the domain name.

You can try a free trial site. I have not done this before; not sure what is involved.

If you already have a Yahoo account set up, it is very easy to start a web page.

Set up account on

Freeservers.com

• Hosting service I use

• In order to access from

school, you will have to

set up an account with

Freeservers.com at home

Chose your free name and subdomain

will be able to access from class

Once you have your domain name

• Create your site in class

• Main page MUST be index.htm

• Use the File Manager to upload your files
