coast to coast
Dear friends,
I’m going to be 60 this July.
I love America.
I love biking.
Lisa loved biking.
Bringing all these factors together I decided to join a group of bikers
riding coast to coast in 20 stages from San Diego to New York, July 23 –
August 11, 2008.
Lisa and I shared bike riding when she was a teenager.
She was a good one at it!
She’ll be there with me this time too.
To celebrate her and her memory I’d like to turn the ride into a fundraiser
for the UIC Lisa Corsini Memorial Scholarship, a financial help for nursing
students in Urbana-Champaign regional program of the University of
Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing.
The endowment was established in 2002 and has grown through the years
thanks to generous and unexpected donations from many.
There are 5,000 kilometres or 3,000 miles to choose from; mountain passes
over 8,000 feet, deserts, prairies, hills and mountains; take your pick.
What if I can’t make it to the end?
Just be nice with me and be patient … I’m 60 after all
