Boarman, a Public Printer and CEO, said the challenges at GPO have grown larger because of the budget issues in front of them. He thinks anyone who comes into a job such as this has an idea of what to do. The future of GPO clearly is digital. Superintendent Mary Alice Baish said the libraries have been digitizing materials in their own collections. They created a registry of those projects and made them available on the FDLP desktop. Some depository libraries predated the creation of GPO. Chief communications officer Andrew M. Sherman said they have Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and a blog on Government Book Talk. They just launched Yelp and foursquare accounts. It is great opportunity to promote and let people know what is going on at GPO using all these social media tools.
