POWER means ability to do or act,
strength,
authority
Heb. 4:12 – For the Word of God is
alive and powerful. It is sharper than
the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting
between soul and spirit, between joint
and marrow. It expose our innermost
thoughts and desire.
The Word of God is not simply a
collection of words from God, a vehicle
for communicating ideas, but it is
living, life-changing and dynamic as it
works in us. With the incisiveness of a
surgeons knife, Gods Word reveals who
we are and what we are not, it
penetrates the core of our moral and
spiritual life. It discerns what is within
us both good and evil.
The demands of Gods Word requires
decision, we must not only listen to the
word, we must also let it shape our
lives.
His word of promise is not a lifeless
letter, it is not paper and ink.
Gods Word and His promise are living-
they are a living reality.
How Powerful the Word of God is?
1. The Word of God is “living” and alive.
The word of God is always alive and
active.
It is always working and quickening
its message to the human heart.
Therefore Gods Word is not a
meaningless promise, it is living and
full of life to the heart of believer.
2. The Word of God is “Active” –
Working, energizing, powerful.
Gods Word of promise is Powerful.
It is not dormant and inactive.
It is active and working , energizing
the heart of believer.
3. The Word of God is “Sharper” than
two edged sword.
Sharpen means to Cut.
It is penetrating and convicting
It does not leave a soul alone.
The Word of God will not let a soul
who hears it and ignore Gods promise.
PS. 19:7 The law of Lord is perfect,
converting the soul.
4. The Word of God is “ Penetrating”
– Penetrate means to go through. It goes
right through to the soul and spirit of man.
- Ps. 23:1-3
It penetrates and separates a man’s soul
and spirit just as a sword pierces a man’s
joints and marrows.
It separates a Proud Soul from Humble Soul
It separates a Sinful soul from Obedient
Spirit.
--It separates a Rebellious soul from an
Obedient Spirit.
--It separates an unbelieving Soul from
a Believing Spirit.
5. The Word of God judges the thoughts
and attitudes of the heart.
The Word of God is able to penetrate into the
further most recesses of a person’s spiritual
being, sifting out and analyzing the thoughts
and intents of the heart.
God’s Word sees whether a persons believes
or does not believe His promise.
God’s Word actually sees through the
thoughts and attitudes of a person.
Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the
gospel, because it is the Power of God
for the salvation of everyone who
believes, just for the Jews, then for the
Gentiles.
Jer. 23:29 “Is not my Word like fire”,
declares the Lord, and like a hammer
that breaks a rock in pieces?
Warning against rejecting Wisdom
(Proverbs 1:20-33)
Three Problem People
Mockers, fools, the Simple – Proverbs keeps
using these words to define the “bad
characters” we should stay away from.
1. SIMPLE- Least harmful group
- They live without thinking and are too lazy to
change
- But they, like the others, will end up sorry.
2. FOOLS – are smarter but have made a conscious
decision to live by their own lights
- independent of God and independent of advice.
3. MOCKERS – worst of all
- are rebels against God who make their prideful
position known to everyone.
- They mock God, but God will mock them in
end. (1:26)
