1.0 Purpose
The purpose of this Method Statement is to describe the Methodology for installation of UPVC pipe
laying and backfilling for the site facilities and to detail the steps to be taken to meet the HSE

5.0 Procedures
5.1 HSE Requirements
5.1.1 All personnel working at site shall attend HSE induction / awareness training programs conducted
by the Safety Engineer / Officer.
5.1.2 Nominated supervisor will remain at site during the execution of the work.
5.1.3 Necessary safety precautions shall be implemented for all activities associated with Electrical such
as installation of electrical equipments and identified the materials as per the material data sheets.
5.1.4 PPE shall be worn at all times.
5.1.5 Safety Officer will remain present at site and will ensure that the provisions made in Project HSE
Plan are complied with.
5.1.6 All necessary precautionary / safety measures such as putting warning tapes shall be taken to
prevent any fall of persons into the pit.
5.2 Equipment
The job will be carried out by manual means. The following are the types of Tools identified for
drainage – plumbing works:
5.2.1 Pipe Vise W/ Stand up to 12” Size;
5.2.2 PVC Pipes Cutter;
5.2.3 Hand Tools;
5.2.4 Pipe Chamfering Tools;
5.2.5 Drilling Machine 12” Capacity;
5.2.6 Mechanical Tool Box W / Tools;
5.2.7 Hydro Testing Pump with all Accessories & 25 M Hose;
5.2.8 Pressure Gauge 25 Bars ½” 100mm Dia.;
5.2.9 Drainage Pipe Water Gravity Testing Plug;
5.2.10 Other necessary tools and instruments.

5.3 Methodology
5.3.1 Installation of under ground drainage pipe
5.3.1.1. Provide labor, materials, equipment and services, and perform operations required for complete
installation of the Drainage and Vent Systems and related work as indicated on the drawings.
5.3.1.2. Pitch horizontal piping not less than 1/8 inch per foot down in direction of flow.
5.3.1.3. Trap fixtures, as indicated on the Drawings.
5.3.1.4. The changes in direction of piping will be made using long radius fittings.
5.3.1.5. The set of floor drains below the normal finished floor will be with a gradual pitch extending
away from the drain.
5.3.1.6. The pipes and fittings will be kept clean; plug exposed ends of incomplete or unconnected
work.
5.3.1.7. The cleanouts will be placed at each change of direction.
5.3.1.8. The cleanouts on concealed piping shall be extended through and terminate flush with the
finished floor.
5.3.1.9. The cleanouts shall be also provided at or near the foot of each vertical soil and waste stack.
5.3.1.10. The cleanouts shall be installed such that the cleanout opens in a direction opposite to the flow
of the drainage line or at right angles thereto.
5.3.1.11. The connections between dissimilar pipes will be made with approved dielectric adapters.
5.3.1.12. Clamp floor drains penetrating waterproofing membrane to the membrane.
5.3.1.13. Supply clamping collars with drains where flashing is required or waterproofing membrane is
penetrated.
5.3.1.14. The pipes and drains penetrating the ground floor watertight will be made with an approved
sealing compound or modular, mechanical link assembly.
5.3.1.15. The roof drains will be installed as per the size as indicated on the drawings, including
approved features.
5.3.1.16. The floor drain shall be constructed of heavy duty UPVC, as per approved drawing and shall
conform to the approved specifications requirement.
5.3.1.17. Each area drain shall be constructed of concrete and shall conform to the approved
requirements.
5.3.1.18. The gully traps shall be of PVC with cleanouts on suction and discharge sides. Gully traps shall
be vented. Gully trap shall be installed in reinforced concrete pit with fill in heavy duty cast iron
cover frame. Size of pit to suit gully trap size. Gully trap shall be constructed of reinforced
concrete with heavy duty cast iron fill in type cover and frame complete as detailed on
drawings.
5.3.1.19. Vent caps shall be PVC with inlet to fit inside the open end of the vent pipe as per the drawings.
5.3.1.20. The water tests will be made to every part of each drainage system as per Specifications. The
water will be kept in the system, or in the portion under test, for at least 15 minutes before
inspection starts.
5.3.1.21. Correct defects detected by any test and retest.
