What Makes a House a Home?
04 LIVING “What makes a house a home?” is the often-asked
question that begs an answer like “companionship”
or “love.” For most everyone, it’s obvious that what
makes a home is really more than the house itself.
And while your new Litehouse is a terrific step toward a
wonderful life, looking outside your door is really the key to
becoming part of and belonging to a supportive, exciting and
              interdependent community.
This guide is meant to be a start on finding and building your
own community. Whether that idea manifests through hours
reading at a local coffeehouse, becoming involved in your
business community or simply walking the gardens at Wegerzyn
and grabbing produce at the farmers’ market, what’s clear is that
there are lots of choices in the Dayton Region.
Once you’ve unpacked your belongings, positioned your artwork
and cooked your first meal, take a moment to put your feet up
and explore this guide. Then put your feet out, pound the
pavement and see what’s been waiting for you.

Have a wonderful life in your new home!

Enrich your indoor living with the host of
              activities right outside your door.
                 Performing & Visual Arts
Amazing, as it may seem, Dayton ranked number one in
ARTS and CULTURE among U.S. mid-size cities (2007, Cities
                 Ranked and Rated).
Pretty impressive. But if you dig below the surface, you’ll find all
sorts of interesting facts that have made Dayton an arts Mecca
for generations. For example, Dayton was the second city in the
country (behind New York City) to establish a ballet company.
Today, Dayton offers a wide range of arts (including dance, theater,
opera, symphony, and visual) available to enjoy at award-winning
                 historic, contemporary and outdoor venues.
