Spirit Central, Inc. cordially invites you to The 2008 Spring Spirit Challenge, to be held at Northbridge High
School on Saturday, March 22. 2008. This event is open to College Cheer Teams and All-Star Cheer & Dance
Programs from all over New England (Please see the enclosed rules and regulations for specific divisions). All
teams will compete on a 54 X 42 Spring Floor and will warm-up on a 54 X 42 cheerleading floor. A
Spring Floor Strip will also be offered so all tumbling can be properly warmed-up.
The Spirit Challenge will be divided into two or three sessions (depending on the number of teams
registered) in order to provide an organized, stress-free environment for cheerleaders, coaches and spectators
alike. The final schedule will be distributed one week prior to the event.
Spectator Fees for the Spirit Challenge will be $10.00 for Adults, $7.00 for children, & $5.00 for senior
citizens. Children 5 and under will be admitted free, if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. There
will be a Spirit Shop available to purchase cheer gear and various other items. A commemorative tee shirt will
also be available listing the names of all competing teams. A concession area will be offered with breakfast,
lunch and dinner items, to accommodate families spending a good amount of time at the event.
The 2008 Spring Spirit Challenge will also offer a variety of new and exciting features, not traditionally
offered by local competitions, to include the following:
Registration Discounts – The BEST team discounts around! – Register your first 3 teams -
$150.00 per team. Register 3 additional teams and the cost is ½ price - per team – that’s only $75.00
per team (for those additional teams). Register any additional teams after 6 paid registered teams and
they register for free – that’s right free!!! In order to receive this fantastic registration discount,
you must register all teams by February 22, 2008.
2 Sets of Judges to ensure each session’s completion in a timely manner.
Trophies will be awarded to the teams scoring the top 50% in each division. In addition, trophies will
be awarded to ALL teams in the youth, mini and tiny divisions.
Medals will be awarded to all team members named “Grand Champions” (top scoring team in each
session)
Spirit Challenge Registration Information:
1. Registration Forms and Team Rosters must be submitted no later than March 8, 2008.
2. Entry fees Registration Discounts – Register your first 3 teams - $150.00 per team. Register 3
additional teams and the cost is ½ price - per team - $75.00 per team (for those additional teams).
Register any additional teams after 6 paid registered teams and they register for free – that’s right
FREE!! In order to receive this fantastic discount you must register all teams by 2/22/08. Please
note: Two coaches per team and ALL Gym Owners will receive free admission to the 2007 Spring
Spirit Challenge. Upon checking in, all registered gym owners/coaches listed on registration form
will receive wrist bands to enter the tournament..

Spirit Challenge Rules & Regulations:
1. Releases: All participants must submit a signed medical release/waiver form absolving Northbridge
High School, Spirit Central, Inc, and all Spirit Challenge Administrators, Staff and Volunteers
from liability for any injuries or accidents that may occur. All release forms must be turned in upon
registration at the competition before teams will be allowed to practice. Release forms will be available
at www.spiritcentralcheer.com.
2. Routine Timing: All Star & College cheer teams will have up to 2 ½ minutes to perform a routine, with
no time limit on music. Although it is not mandatory to have a “cheer” section in your routine, voice
and motions will be judged as part of the cheer score sheet. Dance teams will have up to 3 minutes to
perform their routine. All Top Gun Cheerleader/Dancer Routines NOT to exceed 1 minute.
Timing of your routine will begin with the first motion, word, or note of music.
Should you exceed the designated time limit; a 10 point penalty will be assessed to the teams final
score. A five second grace period will be allowed for the timing of your routine, prior to assessing a
penalty. Should your music fail due to technical malfunction, you will be allowed to start from the
beginning of that musical segment without penalty. The musical segment of your routine is defined as
any tape-recorded sound amplified over the microphone system.
3. Rules: All Star teams must adhere to Divisions, Levels and Safety Guidelines set by the US All Star
Federation (USASF). You may access these divisions, levels & guidelines at www.usasf.net. All
College Cheer & Dance teams must adhere to NCA safety regulations. You may access these
regulations at www.nationalspirit.com.
A ten- point penalty will be deducted from the team’s total score for any infraction of these rules.
4. Competition Surface: All teams will be competing on a 54 X 42 Spring Floor! Warm ups will
take place on a 54’x42’ cheerleading mat and a Spring Floor Strip will also be offered so all
tumbling can be warmed-up properly.
5. Crossovers: Crossovers will be allowed and we will make every effort to schedule warm-ups
accordingly. Please be sure to notify us of any cheerleaders competing on two different teams, so we
can do our best to accommodate you.
6. Team Size: There will be no limit to the number of competing members per team. However,
performance is limited to the 54 X 42 matted area.
7. Glitter: Glitter is allowed; however, we ask that loose glitter be applied with cosmetic glue and that all
spray glitter be sprayed OUTSIDE of the facility for health reasons.
8. Judging: We will be using category judging during this competition. There will be two sets of judges
used in order to complete all sessions in a timely manner. Each panel will contain 5 judges plus our
panel of penalty judges.
9. Deductions: Penalty judges will be assessing additional deductions for touch downs on tumbling, falls
& out of bounds violations.
.25 for every out of bounds violation
.25 for each touchdown in tumbling or bobble in stunt
.50 for each fall out of tumbling
.50 for each fall or missed stunt
10. Scoring: You will receive your raw score and then your final score with all penalty points
assessed. There will be a penalty judge during the entire competition time assessing points.
